The American automobile industry is manufacturing world class vehicles. Cadillac's new 2011 CTS-V coupe is a perfect example. This car means business, and delivers. The supercharged V8 produces 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque, so the redlight racers can eat your dust, and that includes the M3's and the supercharged Jags.

All the high-tech toys are there, too. What's not to like. Go USA.

Free, essentially, the customer who buys the gas for his new 500 hp caddy will actually pay for it!

Dan, if you are considering one of these for yourself, do your homework on the amount of problems and the owner satisfaction in general. That's all I am going to say on this topic...

Serge.......Thank's for the heads up, but no Caddy in my sights. I do find the vehicle intriquing.

I'm going to the Jag dealer in Jacksonville tomorrow to scope out the 2011 XF Premium with the Portfolio package in Indigo Blue. :)

Dan,
That ain't no Sedan DeVille!
The only thing they used to be good for was storing 3 weeks of groceries in the trunk, or maybe a dead body or two.

If you haven't driven the CTS line Howie your comparison is wrong. My CTS was a better vehicle all around than my previous generation A6 and E Class MBZ. Better comfort, better electronics, better A/C, less problems (warranty work).

My neighbor across the street manages GM's Battery Lab and has Volt's home on a regular basis. They are a nice looking car. Sure gets better mileage than my Land Rover. :D

Jim,

I have not driven one but sat in a few. Sorry, but the quality of the interior makes it a no no even before it has left the drive.

What did you swap your CTS for?? :scratch2:

It doesn't have the flash of the Jaguar interior but at least it is not fake leather (MB-Tex) like most E-class Mercedes or plain looking like the my 5 series Bimmers.

With my neck and back issues, I have a problem getting in a out of without hitting my head. I tried just about everything, including the XF & XJ Jags, 5 and 7 series an X5 BMW, ML & E- Class Mercedes, Cayanne, Audi A6, and Infinity M37. I would hit my head where the roof and b-pillar come together on every sedan/SUV. The two easiest were the M-37 and E-Class. I ended up with a Land Rover LR-4 which has turned out to be better than what I expected. I would have gone with the Range Rover Sport but I had entry issues on that too.

This is so true, plus to get the performance this vehicle offers you would have to spend a lot more money on a German vehicle and the maintenance cost would be on par with the difference as well.

Howie.......Trust me, I am not comparing Cadillac to Jaguar. Two entirely different approaches to car manufacturing. I just found myself intrigued by the strides General Motors has made with the Caddy in a world market. With all the cookie cutter jelly bean cars on the roads and dealer's lots, the new CTS-V makes its own statement in both design, and raw power.

I visited the Jaguar dealer this morning in Jacksonville. It was a beautiful crisp morning for the 100 mile drive to the city, The Jaguar's beauty and refinement exceed Cadillac, as does the plush luxury of the interior. One look under the Jags, with their completely enclose underbelly, tells you these cars approach speed and aerodynamics at a completely different level. That's also part of the reason Jags are so quiet inside. Beautiful vehicles. BTW, I looked at the new Jaguar XJ while I was there. Ultra nice, and a big step up from the XF. Very luxurious. The interior is out of this world. I didn't purchase a vehicle today, but the head is still spinning.

I love the LR4! I had a LR3 for 5 years and could easily live with a LR4. Beautiful car Jim.

i test driven the CTS-V ( saloon) the other day, a very nice car, power-wise great value for money, but i was not very impressed by the interior build quality and styling. things r abit too shiny and lack the 'solid feeling' of european cars ( say merc's CLS and E class)

just my 2-cents.
