Here's embarrassing, KC and the Sunshine Band.

I was drinking one cold night in my second floor apartment in Northern California with my younger brother and some friends. I frisbeed the LP off the balcony into the freezing pool. I told my brother if he dove in and got it I'd play it. Well, he did, but when he came up and handed it to me I broke it in half. Pretty cold thing to do to my little brother. That was in 1979.

Yep, I've got that one too. Haven't broken it yet. There is one LP I found in the discount section decades ago. It was Beck/Clapton/Page ~ Guitar Boogie. I thought with those three big guitar names, how could I go wrong with buying it. After my first listen, I considered turning it into a frisbee. I'll give it another listen, before deciding to toss it to the wind.

I guess for CD's I still own mine might be one I picked up while living in Europe.

The Kelly Family - Almost Heaven

There was a catchy tune I heard on the radio but the album turned out sort of Partridge Family Redux.

If I was making a list of bad albums I have purchased that would require a much longer list.

Thanks to Rhapsody and being able to review most discs, the list is not growing as quickly as in the past.

With KC, you just crank the volume up some and not care. Playing it at listenable (moderate) volumes may remind you that you don't like it. The Guitar Boogie LP you turn down and use as background noise—that's how I'd handle it.

Ya, your right Jim. Some of these definitely are embarrassing and some are just bad. Two separate categories. This can be an eye opener as something you or I thought was great and cool all these years someone else may have thought was embarrassing. A kind of interesting thread. It can tell us a very small piece about someone. Hopefully no one will get to crushed. I won't, it's a kinda funny.

I will admit that when I listen to Abba's Greatest Hits I do not post it in the "What are you listing to" Thread. I can't help it if Dancing Queen and Fernando are so damn catchy. :D

Hey Serge,
Frank Zappa. Try playing Dinah-Moe Humm when your family is home...

I'll bet you fifty dollars......

Not to throw the Frank baby out with the bathwater, arguably there is redeemable social value in many FZ works.

I have soooo many duds, where to begin at! While I was doing my conversions LP to FLAC. Every once in awhile I'd run across an artist, I'd would think to myself "What could I've been possibly thinking at that time". Yet in the same venue I'd find a gem! My Dad would play "Wes Montomery - A Day in the Life" on one side only! So I was never a Wes fan, I didn't think he was that good! :) One day came across that LP's, so I thought for memories of my Dad I'll play BOTH sides! What came from my speakers "side 2", had me in awe! Even the side my Dad played sounded so good! Now I'm a Wes fan! even though side 1 still isn't up to par, compare to his other work! :)

I have it, and at the time of purchase thought it was good. Tastes change, of course, and I haven't played it in a while. I remember thinking it sounded good. Maybe I'll revisit it. It's less of a cliché than Saturday Night Fever has become (I have that, too). I'd be more embarrassed to play that than Bread.

I'm not embarrassed to appreciate arguably the best 21st century composer. I'm proud! And what's not to like with his lyrics? "with a tounge like a cow, she'll make you go WOW!" Pure genius.
