Findings are consistent with other reviews. Many home audiophiles are still unaware of Peter Thomas's talent and the performance of his PMC speakers. On the other hand, many recording studios and musicians (numbers growing) are fully aware. For most home audiophiles, no room correction devices or subwoofers recommended here.

Congrats Ian!

That is a good review of the FB1i. The size of it looks like a perfect match for Sasha's listening room.

Thanks! The FB1i is actually PMC's most award winning model in the HiFi side.

This does not surprise me. My FB1+ (not even the FB1i's), were one of my most enjoyable and versatile pair of speakers.

I'm quite a fan of the Gibson Gold tops, but the PRS gold top is just as nice. Not only that, you can produce every tone imaginable with that thing. From twang to metal. I've got a Les Paul Custom, it does rock to metal :)... I did however put in a coil splitter on the neck PU, so it can do a bit of that glassy jazz & blues tone.

Ian.......Congratulations. I couldn't be happier withmy PMC EB1i speakers. They certainly advance the audio arts in my room.

For you viewing pleasure, here's a photo of my Gibson Les Paul Custom. It is one of eight different guitars I own. This is a beautiful instrument.

Wow, that thing is sweeeeeet! What is that finish called? Haven't seen too many with edges like that.

Ian.......Gibson calls this finish Sunburst. The strip binding is by special order. BTW, that small strip of soft foam on the neck is to keep the strings from vibrating when I am listening to my studio sound system. I have to damp all the guitars in the room or they begin their own performance with the free strings vibrating away.

Brian.......I remember seeing that and a couple of other photos, but I can't remember who was making those custom speakers. In my opinion, that finish doesn't get anywhere near the quality of Gibson's wood and finish.

A CS3.7 side makes its way out of the finishing booth at Gibson sporting a new heritage cherry sunburst finish.

from avguide.com-
Sometimes the parallel worlds of musical instrument and audio equipment manufacturing intersect, with spectacular results. We were recently reminded of this fact by a newsletter we received, called “The Gibson Chronicles,” written by Denise Fuson of Thiel Audio.
As Denise explained, the Gibson Custom Shop (of Gibson guitars fame) and Thiel Audio have joined in an effort to create a set of Thiel CS3.7 loudspeakers done up in an authentic Gibson Heritage Dark Burst finish. The result is visually stunning, to say the least. At this point, the speakers have been signed by Thiel founder Jim Thiel, renowned guitarist and inventor Les Paul, and what Denise Fuson terms “a myriad of celebrities.” The speakers made a brief PR appearance at the Sundance Film Festival and have now taken up residence in the Thiel conference room at the firm’s Lexington, KY-based headquarters.
Can you buy a set of sunburst CS3.7s? Perhaps. According to a Picasa-based site where Thiel shows images of the sunburst CS3.7s under construction (well worth a visit, in our opinion), there is a sidebar that reads, “THIEL Loudspeakers are building a limited number of very special Gibson sunburst finish CS3.7s signed by the legendary Les Paul.”

Ivan.......No kidding. You can buy a lot of underwear and socks for what Stephen's maid has destroyed in the past year.

After all that, she would have to look like this to remain employed with me. I do have a forgiving heart. :D
