Is it possible (and how difficult is it) to change the wooden side strips to a different color on the 3.7i?

I'd like to go from back to cherry. Is this something Magneplanar will sell you?

I have my 3.7 apart right now. If you take the screws out around the perimeter of the panel you can remove the front cloth and Wood stripes. I am currently refinishing mine because I wanted a darker color.

Post up a picture of the speakers for us when you are done.

I'm not a maggie owner but this sounds like an excellent DIY thread that you could post with instructions and pics

I made new side rails out of mahogany for my Tympani IVa's to replace the stock oak rails.

It seems I can no longer upload photos. I tried converting them too. Sorry but it's just another frustration of a anolog man in the digital age.

The files are what I used for the staple removal. The original color was a honey oak.The new finish is a red oak stain.I currently have them satin polyurethaned but I might give them a couple coats of gloss urethane from a spray can.
When I finish buying the rest of he upgraded caps I can finish the first speaker and compare it to my stock one.

On the back of the panel you will find Phillip head screws. You need to place your metal tweeter protection strip in place(carefully).Next I placed the panel flat on the floor face down.I used A covered box to support the bottom side until I removed the legs. After leg removal I removed the box and set panel flat.Next remove the screws and the front wood strips and the cloth will separate from the panel. In the photo of the newly refinished strips you will notice that I have not yet reinstalled them on the panel.

Your welcome. I still plan on a thorough right up after I finish experiencing the difference between the changed panel and the stock panel.
I wish I was better with uploading pictures,I would video the update on the second speaker... But in reality it would be a nightmare and I would end up frustrated and embarrassed.😤

I'll be glad to see that.

I feel like a small ape-like creature looking up at 2 giant black monoliths...

still have not detected that radio beam aimed at Jupiter yet -- maybe I need to visit the moon first

vegaracer1,

That dark stain on your wood panels looks really nice. That is what I have in dark cherry but your wood grain looks much nicer. It really pops!

Mike, I really like the look of the cherry too.The oak, grain is very prominent and gives a great contrast in color. I think I am going to give them a light scuff and then give them a couple coats of gloss urethane. After seeing how beautiful some of the high end speaker finishes are I have to give it a try.[emoji106]
