Thanks for the info! She's a beauty. Solid wood chassis was a wise choice. And 78 RPM is available on this model. Any idea what the asking price is?

Danny.......I have had difficulty trying to pin down the price but some discussions center on about Euro 2000 or about $2800.00. It also comes with a hinged dustcover.

Before my VPI, I had a Dual CS5000, my first high-endish turntable. It was better than the $200 Hitachi it replaced by far. I wonder how the 600 is.

As someone who believes that one of the important spec's for a TT is weight, only 8.3kg seems pretty much on the light side. For that money it would need to punch well above its weight-class.

Nice to see some styling cues from the vintage Duals; i.e. the gimbal and tone arm definitely Dual.

Glenn.......I am in no way promoting the Dual CS 600. I simply posted the thread for those who still find Dual turntables interesting. None the less, weight alone is really no certainty of high performance in a turntable's design. Sure, there are plenty of insanely heavy engineering behemoths presented as exotic turntables but weight alone is not necessarily the yardstick or tipping point for measuring performance. There are so many important aspects to a turntable's design that lend themselves to high performance. Most are far more important than mere heft. In my opinion platter speed accuracy and stability, isolation from motor noise and vibration, and isolation from bearing noise strike me as far more important than sheer bulk, just to mention a few. No doubt weight has influence over certain types of vibration but weight alone is no panacea.

Agreed, Dam ^^^^ Even though Regas are lightweight they are a heavyweight performer.

Indeed.......... that is why I stated that "one" of the important spec's is weight (mass). Definitely not the only one. Just like the other spec's mentioned, need to look at the sum of the parts......

Glenn.......I am hoping one of the audio magazines will do a review of the Dual CS 600. I believe it would be an interesting read.

That thought crossed my mind. If solid wood chassis is good, maybe the 'golden stone' chassis is better. But the wow & flutter and rumble specs of the 'stone' don't give me a reason to rejoice................ :music:
