Just saw this video - Mark Levinson (the man) showcasing his latest creations.

Link: Mark Levinson, Daniel Hertz Audio - YouTube

A bit of history, spoken to him like 2 years back about his stuff and he was friendly and talked a lot about his works, speakers (M1), Pre amp (M6) and Power Amps (M5) - both now in the "L" series, an improvement.

One thing's for sure, whatever he told me about what he was working on WAS the truth. I was wrong to be skeptical and should be apologetic for being so, even though I was "influenced" by friends and local distributors who did not speak highly of the man and his works - except those of his past ML and Cello. even then, no excuse for my bad behaviour.

Seriously, he has now a mini combo - comprising of an integrated amp and speakers (M8 and M9 respectively) and the combo is selling for US$7k and thru ... guess what - Apple Store.

Plus he had a Digital format "Cello Audio Palette" known as Master Class! And all he is working very closely with iTunes, from what he is saying today!

In short, his BEST - Reference system, a pair of M1 speakers, M5L Power (2 sets of mono amps and you need 2 sets for the M1's) and M6L Pre plus one MacBook (or MacBook Pro) loaded with Master Class and boom, we have a very high end all digital system. of course, one can still rout 3 analog input, say a TT (one or two arms), a Tuner and maybe a combo player.

Take a look at the video, I am impressed, very ... I must say. Lets not go to "if its worth the price he's calling" cause we will end up being judgmental on what the real performance could be.

Just sharing! Cheers!

Interesting video, thanks for posting. I wonder if the baby Daniel Hertz System distributed through Apple stores is somehow connected to the rumor circulating earlier that Apple was going to offer high resolution music.

Indeed and based on that, "Master Class" will be the game changer in high resolution music - plus - do what you want and keep YOUR creation - which suits your system performance.

For this kind of money... or even half that, don't people expect something a little prettier than a big black box speaker?

I would have to hear them; but they look pretty nice. I've certainly seen some ugly speakers out there.

Why do we spend $200k for a car, $80k for a watch, $200 for a bottle of wine? All of these are silly purchases but they are for individuals with disposable income and want something that you will not see in every big box store. Sure there are those who sole objective in life is to accumulate wealth while others prefer to spend some of it.
