Hi all,

I received my Monster Bass Trap today and boy does that thing work - wowza. My room currently has no treatment and so this was my first forage into room treatment. I read quite a few articles and decided that a good place to start would be with a monster directly behind my listening position as I sit right I. Front of the rear wall - not ideal but that is what I need to do given my room.

I put some tunes on that I know well - the Padstowe Lifeboat brass band piece (free cd with arabesque speakers). I almost jumped out my skin when the thwack of the bass drum came rolling down my room. I mean I physically flinched in my seat

Anyway, suffice it to say by this afternoon, I ordered several more panels :music:

Thanks Gik for a great product

Bill.......No doubt about, room treatment is the best bang for the buck improvement in an audiophile's toolbox. Once you have the gear of your choice set up with the speakers of your choice attending to room acoustics will deliver phenomenal improvements without breaking the bank. Be sure to keep us informed as you move forward.

Hi chaps,

Sure - will post some pics when I actually attach it to the wall - @ the moment it is merely propped up behind me. I have 4 more panels arriving on Monday - another Monster and 3 242s

I also need to work out how to post Piccies on here :scratch2:

Well it has been taking me quite a long time to get to grips with optimising the room treatment! Still not finalised placement but think I am nearly there. The mad thing is that I have no panels behind the listening position now as it sounds dead and the soundstage collapsed. I have been doing all my placement by ear, which I think is the way to go tbh. Because my room is asymmetrical, the treatment is not conventional in terms of mirror image but sounds so much better this way.

Lived with an asymmetrical room for longer than I care to remember. Can you place some free standing traps on stands in a symmetrical manner and move them out of the way if needed?

Sure can and will probably end up finishing this way as that is what I have tried over the last 2 days funnily enough

Those monsters look good. Love the Focal's. Why did you end up removing the panels from behind your listening position? Did you ever get all the tweaking finished?

Nice. Good looking!

GIK panels have to be one of my highest bang-for-the-buck audio improvements.
