Anybody have experience with Ch-precision?

They have strong connections to Orpheus and Anagram technology apparently.

Would love to hear their SACD player.

Not directly, although a friend on the other side of the world likes the D1 player a lot. But he is an analog guy and it doesn't give me a frame of reference.

I often travel to this part of the world - they are on the other side of the Lake from Evian, in France. It is a pretty place to be building hifi. I should try and make a visit.

One thing to note is whilst the SACD player can be fitted with a DAC module, it is quite basic, just a pair of Wolfson 8742 DAC chips. Although this is how my fiend heard it, and liked it.

I think you really need to be using their separate DAC to get the most out of the transport. This uses 8 PCM1704 chips, which are hard to get and can sound very good. I like ladder DACs (have MSB, which make their own discrete ladder DAC).

The combination of player and DAC is going to be pretty expensive.

Thanks

I wonder if I could use my Sooloos as the transport into the Dac?

Sounds like it's time f or me to have a listen.

For SACD in all its glory, ie DSD to the DAC, you would have to use the D1 with the C1 as it seems DSD is only passed via the proprietary link. I don't know much about the Sooloos interface - send CH-P an email. I'm sure they will respond.

I could use the D1 to play Sacds and its digital input to connect the spdif from sooloos. Only I want to do DSD from my computer would the C1 become necessary. I think this is correct.

I have listened many times to CH Precision rigs, they are IMO some of the best SS gear at any price, very liquid sounding comparable to the best tube rigs.
I am considering L1+X1+M1.1 stereo for my new rig.

For a digital front end I like EMM Labs, DCS, and Esoteric in that order. I wasn't as impressed with the CH Precision digital front end playing SACD's and streaming

Just my 2c

I am using a four box CH Precision L1 preamp (left and right channel mono preamps each with a corresponding separate power supply x1) together with a two box phono P1 (stereo phono with a separate power supply X1).

I find the CH to be amongst the best electronics I’ve used used in my room. They produce a transparent, liquid, yet detailed three dimensional sound. They’re also built like tanks, with a great interface, configurable and easy to update via software.

Highly recommended.

I had recently the chance to listen side by side the CH rig and Mephisto Pandora combo with Kaiser speakers in a square space without any room correction at all.

The Gryphons were far superior than the CH in all aspects

Very interesting-I have not heard the 2 brands side by side-only individually and lean towards The Gryphon.
More flesh on the bone.......

The Gryphon sound was such that I sold immediately my Pass Labs XA160.8 and XP22 for a new pair of Mephisto Stereo and Pandora.

The new equipment was delivered just before Christmas.
The sound is now amazing

Surprised there is not more love or interest for CH on this forum...

CH Precision is extremely expensive. Out of reach for most audiophiles. They need to make a cheaper entry level tier like Soulution with their 3 series components.

@savakntr
Could you explain in objective terms "far better" means, so the audience can benefit from the characteristics you heard?
Thanks very much.

Hi CMarin,
I see you like the CH Precisions. But I also do see the Gryphon Solos as your main amps.
Any way did you compare the CH M1.1 mono amps to the gryphon Solos?
Thanks a heap!

Elaborate please. What did the system as a hole consist of?

Hi sthekepat,

No I’m sorry I haven’t yet had the opportunity to compare the Gryphon Mephistos with the CH M1.1s. That was my intent, and had discussed the option with my CH dealer, but unfortunately the Covid situation has made it difficult to transact.

How are you liking the CH I1? I'm becoming more and more interested in this integrated and have read good things. Curious what other components are in your system.
