Do they have US distribution yet? I looked into them after a positive review about 1-1/2 years ago, but they did not have a US rep at the time.

I do not really see any USA dealers/importers listed yet. I think it will be impossible to get so it may not even be smart to look into.

Just had a look, those Mephisto Monos weigh in @ 237lbs each... yooooowzaaa.

I've heard the company name for many years, It's strange they seem to sell everywhere but in the US.

There seems to be a huge following everywhere but the US.

No strange.
McIntosh is much cheaper and sounds better imho.
Electrocompaniet is an other story if you talk about nordic amps....

I heard the Gryphon Antilleons and they didnt do it for me though that could have been the Kef Blades as much as the electronics... had just previously been listening to a Karan KSA 600, now there's an amp you might want to hear Joe... very, very nice.

I do think they have good preamps, amps and CD-players.
After much more auditions of so much brands the last years, I'm not 100% convinced by their speakers. I've heard better...

Joe...Gryphon is Andy Payor's of Rockport Technologies fame amplification of choice. Just a data point.

Thanks Cyril. Having no USA dealers or importers will make things a little difficult.

I audition Colosseum Stereo amp and Mirage preamp at home(good friend owns it) and in my opinon it is awsome. For comparison my old Krell EVO402/EVO222 combo sounded much more mechanic and artificial in presentation. Also, Colosseum offered better bass then EVO402, better defined and more focused. Mechanically, Krell's are joke in comparison to Gryphon(to make the things clear here Krell EVO series has the worst build quality of all upper end Krell amps).
Jeff Fritz is huge fan as well: SoundStageXtreme.com | UltraAudio.com | SoundStageXtreme.com | UltraAudio.com (http://www.ultraaudio.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=106:gryphon-audio-designs-mirage-preamplifier-and-colosseum-stereo-amplifier&catid=44:feature-articles&Itemid=37)

I've only heard the Gryphon two-box phono pre in my system, so I don't have extended experience with the brand, but Gryphon stuff is usually very impressive, specially on the looks department. On a quick, first impression at an audio show, for example, they're killer.

Thanks guys for all the input. I think I have a line on a dartzeel preamp. I need to follow through and see how the combo performs. It has been a long wish of mine to get the matching preamp to my wonderful Dart amp.

That's true, but I've been lucky to a certain extent. A friend who bought a well know brand with USA representation, not so lucky.

I've listened to almost every gear from their line except their last loudspeakers. It is terrific staff, very popular in Russia. But as for me, CD players are not so good as competitors

Hi friends,

What do you think of the Gryphon Diablo? The dealer here in Brazil is my friend, and he would like me to do some tests with this integrated.

This integrated would be a good pair with Sonus Faber?

Best regards,
Ricardo.

Gryphon is not in amerika becuz they diddnt find decent importer that can present their whole line properly as last one screwed up and almost bankrupted them....and btw this thing is even not in tastes of sound...gryphon simply make better gear than mcintosh...you cannot even compare these two brands...its like compairing cadillac and bentley...i dont want to sound like im bashing mac...on contrary i like mac...but i find gryphon more resolute, natural, faster, rafined...you name it...gryphons entry integrated costs like macs higher line integrateds...you just cant compare it but your answer was bashing of better product you probably diddnt take one good listen...kind regards

Last month I had the opportunity to Elite Expo, auditioning
one Pandora, Mephisto combo. Really are impressive on paper but for me the sound they lack emotion. maybe
sound "too perfect"

I spent a week or two with Mephisto before I agreed with how it sound.
An amp platform and feet tuning made much impact on sound, also power cables.
On HRS Nimbus, it sounded so sweet and romantic, but lack attack and excitement.
On Finite Elemente, it sounded more solid-state, clearer, but lean and lacks beauty in its sound.
With proper set up, it will sound very powerful, true to the music, and engaging.

Hi Toga,

Wondering how your soundstage is, do you have energy all around the speakers or is it concentrating between the Q7's?

From cold power up to fully warm, do you hear a big difference with the Mephisto?

Olaf,
Hi,
1. Well, yes that depend much on the recording, the result can be both ways.
2. From cold I felt the treble is not as much extended, but after 30 minutes it seemed all right.
Becoming very hot at around 1 hour. It still very warm at medium bias setting, and still warm in Low setting.
