Anyone have any comments on Matsushita PC88/7DJ8? I'm looking at getting a quad to try in my Premier 17LS. I've developed a loud hiss in both channels and Ed at CJ thought it was probably the tubes. The hiss does go away when I mute the preamp.

Thanks

Its a great tube. Highly recommended. Search AA there was a long discussion about them.

You might also want to consider the Matsushita (branded National) 6922, which is only a few bucks more. I've tried them in my 16LS2 and think they sounded really good.

Brand New in Box, Matsushita Japan 6922 E88CC tubes. Mullard Tooling. Tubes were relabeled and boxed by National. - BEST BUY (http://www.tubemonger.com/Matsushita_Japan_6922_E88CC_Mullard_Tooling_NOS_p/591.htm)

TubeMonger carries them.

Thanks for the input guys. I went ahead and ordered a cryo'd quad of matsushita 7dj8s from upscale audio. I'll let you know how they work out if anyone is interested.

The Matsushitas work great, goodbye EH6922s.

Let it burn in for 50 hours and it will be even better.

I have the CJ LP66s. Can I put the 7dj8 in the v1 slot and keep the 6922s in the v2 and v3 slot. Will that throught things off or damage it?

Absolutely but replacing all three will give even better results assuming the 6922 you have are EH.
