In my premier 12 amps: :If i change out my new cyryoed tubes after putting 50 hours on them-how long does it take another set of broken in tubes to settle in when doing some tube rolling? I have a chance to compare a non chryoed(including small tubes) 6550 based set of tubes sgainst a "hot rod" cyroed (including small tubes)kt-120set. Is there any difference in settle in time between big power tubes and smaller input and driver tubes?? thanks ray :music:

Good question, I'm new to the tubes world also. Curious as what people say.

rlw3.......It has been my experience with small tubes that there is very little difference in performance after about 25 or 30 hours in a circuit. With power tubes, the different KT-88's I have used seem to settle into their permanent voice between 60 and 75 hours. I have no experience with KT-120's, so they may have different characteristics.

are you saying when you roll broken in tubes it takes 25 to 30 hrs. that is way too long to be able to make comparisons. i was thinking 5-30 minutes?? the hours you indicate seem more a part of breaking in NEW tubes.

rlw3.......I apologize. I misunderstood your question. If small tubes and power tubes already have the hours on them to be considered broken in, then a 30 minute warm up is plenty of time to do comparisons between tubes.

This is nice to know.
