How long does it take for new tubes to break in? Is no deep bass at first normal?

How long does it take cj amps to fully warm up after new tubes are broken in?

I would say at least 100 hours. I've heard some CJ gear can take 300-400 hours to reach it's broken-in time.

I believe this is in reference to the capacitors in it, not the tubes.

ronenash suggested to me 50 hours with most of the break-in in the first 10-15.

sounds like we are in the 50/50 club. fifty hours to break in new tubes and fifty minutes to warm gear up completely. i do not look forward to breaking in teflon caps after the holidays-wish that was a 50 hr period. thanks to all

Hi Chris,
Yes, I agree, my Premier 17, LP70S and CT-5 all need an hour to fully warm up and sound their best.

I agree that the figure of 50 hours for tubes to burn in is pretty accurate.

Which tubes are you talking about?

Is no deep bass at first normal?

Not usually. Less bass or dynamics but not an absence of bass.

30-60 mins with the low end coming from the cj owners manual. You're 90+% there at 30 mins. Biggest difference is between 0 and 30 mins. If you shut the amp off, it's back to square one again. :(

Just asking about all tubes in general
You are right there is some bass but very lacking until 45-60 minutes compared to half that time with a cj ls16 and music reference tube amps. i now have act 2.2 and pr 12 with all new tubes with about 37 hours on them
