View Full Version : raise your cages with ayre myrtlewood blocks
Installed kt 120s in my premier 12 when it arrived. As noted on this site tubes are too tall for the cage. i placed 6 ayre wood blocks on each amp for the cage to sit on as my amps are next to my rack and anything falling would hit a tube.

Hate to admit it, but I don't know how to enter a photo on this site. I am a techno peasant....

Hi Puma Cat.... check back in over here (http://www.audioaficionado.org/conrad-johnson/16013-suggestions-first-cj-tube-amp-7.html#post369305) where I first reacted.
Tonight is after they've broken in about 24 hours. I'm just blown away! It must be that the 6550C's that I had come with it were tired. The difference with the KT120's is night and day. Nothing subtle at all in the improvement. I'm just tickled!

Why not remove the cages completely?
My amps set directly next to, on either side of my arcici suspense rack. anything falling off the rack to the sides would have a high likelyhood of landing on and breaking some tubes:nono:
