Playing music through an EMM Labs DAC2X into a Pass Labs XP-30 preamp, a Dartzeel NHB-108 amp and TAD CR-1 speakers. I've been around the block several times with this, as you all well know. I keep coming back to my Dartzeel on my CR-1's. What can I say? It sounds like music, natural and unforced. Why? I can't say, but I can tell you I am enjoying the current combo. :music:

Joe,
It's all about synergy.
Tomorrow you will listen to the Dyns again with the PR350 and will find the combo awesome too.
We just need multiple rooms my friend !

I like it the same but differently. I think the GAT has too much gain for me. Maybe I do not get some of the bloom of the GAT but the XP-30 nudges on the warmer side of neutral. It is dead quiet like my 077 but has more fullness and slightly rounder edges than the 077. I am contemplating a change in the future that might go better with the XP-30, so we will see. The journey never ends. :D

Are these in Joe's future?:scratch2:

Maybe these :naughty:

I believe in the synergy from matching preamp and amps by the same manufacturer whenever possible. I am just puzzled, given the electronics you seem to prefer (Dartzeel, Pass), that you are reluctant to try a full tube system.

I am reluctant for a couple of reasons. My stereo is on for the better part of 12 hours a day. I know multiple systems have been recommended before, but I don't have the room and I do not like switching back and forth. Tube maintenance would be astronomical. I have considered and still do consider a GAT/ART setup. Maybe in the future. I do not want tube gear with fans which leaves out ARC. Maybe a lower powered tube setup with appropriate speakers would be a consideration.

---See, how old you think you'd be till you're dead, 85?
That would be over the average for your information.

OK, 85 minus 49 = 36 years left to live, or 432 months.

Now, the average person sleep about 8 hours per day (1/3), but you, you sleep 1/2 of the time; according to your own coordinates. :)

Soooo, you have (if you're lucky to live till age 85) only 216 months still to live on this planet, Earth! :D

---Joe, if I may, one last one to show you how fast ten years go by.

Remember when you were a baby? ...Well, just before you were born, you live roughly nine months in your Mum's belly; but that doesn't count as you were mostly sleeping. ;)

But then when you came out, on day one, and till you got to ten years old; do you remember how fast it went?
...Real fast that's right, and that's how fast ten years go by!

Well, ten years go real fast. ...And the older you get the less you move, the less you are active, the more you get tired (and perhaps you sleep more too), well, the less you are physically living, if you follow the logical man's evolution...

But, you are thinking perhaps more, and you are also more conscious, more wise (wiser?) too, and you have more time to dedicate to music listening, and other delicacies of life. :)

Soooo, after all, it is a well balanced life. ...Just have to make sure you're living it to the full tilt each and every day. :)
...And I got a strong gut feeling that you do indeed.

That's it, I'm done now. :D
