Thanks! I think the Premier 350 would be superb with your 3.7's. The amp is so good though, that it shows how bad some of my cd's can sound on my TAD CR-1's. On the good to great cd's, the CJ 350 is outstanding, especially with the GAT preamp. I am in search of a better source because my Sony XA5400ES is showing its age on cd playback. On SACD playback it's great. On cds, not as good as it could be. On the recommendation of a friend, I recently added a Marantz SA-15S2B Limited cd/sacd player. It is much better than my Sony and makes those difficult cds enjoyable. I am still in search for the perfect DAC or music server to round out my system.

There were times in the past where I'd considered looking into some re-built Apogees... but the 3.7s cured me of that impulse totally.:yes:

Hi Shane & Hi Ray !

Ray, You are also a proud owner of the MG 3.7 ? Thats just great :music:
I think we have now a much more modern and elegant Design with the 3.7`s which is very, very satisfying musically/sonically - arent we lucky guys ?? :tresbon:

Hi Joe! I think You are already in Heaven (You don`t have to die to go to Heaven, ask Lew, it`s a Conrad-Johnson Slogan )! Your Pr350, GAT and TAD`s deserve at least a Marantz CD-Player (and more than this specific model), from what I know the Sonys aren`t exactly musical sounding (I had one, my first CD-Player in 1986, my first Sony as to say...)...

oh yea, 3.7s now for must be a bit over a year...ordered a pair immediately, waited a few months and that was that.
By far the best speaker I've ever owned. The 3.7s, along with the ET5 have gotten me to a music enjoyment I never thought possible, although I must give credit to the JC-1s and the DAC-2 also.

of course as any audiophile in good standing, never fully satisfied, I'm now waiting on 20.7s to arrive in a couple months. :dazed-7::dazed::puzzled-2::eek::umm:

Hi Marc,

So true. :music:

I have a Metric Halo LIO-8 which is very nice, but I still am looking for the ultimate musical player (cd/sacd player and/or dac). I have a few options in mind but nothing concrete yet. I am enjoying the Marantz more than the Sony.

I had Apogee Duetta II's back in the day. What a wonderful speaker as well. I do miss them and sholud have looked at Magnepans for the fun of it.

CJ Premier3
06-05-2012, 04:39 PM
Shane, couldn`t agree more with Your opinion about the MG3.7 - easily the best speaker I had too, had about 14 pairs already since 25 years - also Electrostatics from Quad , Audiostatic ES100 & Martin Logan CLSIIz

I like Your system very much, my Dealer told me that already the MG20.1 is quite a bit better than the 3.7 (he owns them at home- grrr), wait and look forward what the 20.7 can `do` for You :smoking: I am jealous !!!

Joe, the Duetta`s surely were speakers I dreamed to own for a long time in the 90ties, cooool Design also and so much High-End Charisma
What options do You have in mind - DCS, EMM-Labs, or may be a very nice... Esoteric ?? :D:D:D - I really can recommend them - not many thoughts to upgrade mine since 4 years

Greets to You both, thanks for the conversation

Hi Marc,

The pleasure is ours. It's very nice to meet another passionate music and gear lover.

In no particular order I am looking at some of these to finish off the hardware part of my system.

Burmester 111. Contingent on selling/trading in other gear to make that happen. Initial reports have been excellent.

AMR CD-77.1 or CD-777, DP-777. I love the build quality and tube goodness built into them.

Playback Designs MPS5. CD/SACD player with excellent DAC inputs.

EMM Labs XDS1. I've heard great things about this one but don't know enough about it.

Esoteric ?. Heard great things about these but I am not drawn to them.

And last but not least, Conrad Johnson HD3 USB DAC. It would get me more CJ sound and use my current computer.

CJ Premier3

Hi Joe

You have some fine options there in Your `list` and I am sure You will make a excellent decision - can`t imagine anything else if I have a look at Your system!

Unfortunately I am not up to date with CD-players and Computer audio, my recent efforts were to find the `right` speakers and a suiting power amp - from my personal experience I do know the AudioNet Players quite well, had a CD-Drive from them combined with a theta dac, their Players are very, very fine and they have also a sacd-player, VIP G3 if I remember correctly :music:

By the way, I heard my MG3.7 with a small Burmester power amp (036?) at my dealer and found the sound really good ! (all Burmester system then) Your Burmester 911 (Carrera) must be a veeeeery special `machine` :smoking:

So long, Cheers
