Can you say POWER HANDLING????

I used meter hold to get the photo, but we had these amps bouncing of 1000 watts quite a bit!!!

I think that Ian approved of what he was hearing with the 501's driving the PMC's to some serious sound levels.

PMC's own Ian Verdugo

The sound is incredible, very detailed, very musical, tight bass, I am really impressed.

When I took the BIG Mc speakers out of my room I thought that I would be crying... the PMC's are making me smile...

Look a little different???

A HUGE thanks to Ian for personally delivering my new speakers and helping with set up.

I am really grateful to him and for everyone on this forum that pointed in the way of the incredible PMC speaker line up.

Thank you all.

Now... to sub or not to sub...

I've always been fond of the PMC sound. Had some supply issues in this country a while ago; so many people heard the then new GB1's and wanted them only to be waiting months for the them...\

Give them woofers time to break in before thinking about a sub  and consider filling those stands.

Stephen,
Congrats - those look great, and it's cool that you're enjoying them so much after such a larger speaker. VERY cool to be helped by "The Man" himself!

The stands are filled and tuned by PMC's Western Sales Rep, Ian Verdugo, and he even personally broke these speakers in for me.

They are rockin' right out of the box!!!

Not even I would deliver 1000 watts of power to a BRAND NEW speaker...

Just shut off the work for the day.

Sitting in the music room and REALLY REALLY not being able to get my head around the sound that these little black boxes are producing.

Simply AMAZING.

The TB2i is an amazing speaker that can hold it's own against much larger speakers.

Of course, they do not have the bass slam the the 2 big 10' bass drivers on the LS360's could produce... but the detail, seperation of instruments, imaging is nothing short of amazing.

Stephen.......I am very pleased to know the PMC TB2i's are making you smile. I knew they would. Pretty damn impressive to see the MC501 meters pumping 500+ watts into the TB2i's. That is the difference between a speaker manufactured by a consumer audio company, and a speaker manufactured by a company the builds professional monitors for the broadcast and recording industries. Those puppies are a lot more serious than they appear. Congratulations.

As good as the transmission line design is on the TB2i's, a sub will fill the bottom beautifully. Put a Fathom f112 or f113 with them.

Congrats on the new speakers, very impressive to see the power they can hold and the personal service you received. Enjoy!!

Love it... Now you need to change that profile pic... I don't know if it should be the meter at just under 1000 or your complete set up pic.

You will love them more and more as time goes by, all of the PMC Aficionados will testify to that!

Congrats two dot.

That first photo of the 501 rocks!!

Looks like a great time.

P.S. Ian, stop by my house with a couple of EB1i's. We'll throw on a steak and have a drink or two.;)

Very nice indeed! I predict even more enjoyment in the future once the speakers are broken in!

It really is amazing that you did not blow those littler speakers ! My floor standing Cremona's only take up to 250 watts. I usually reach my threshold of pain ie loudness after 50-60 on my pre amp ie around 50-100 watts.

Thanks!

I wonder if my OB1i will take 640watts each!!!

Ian has to be here just incase.

Levi.......I have put 600 watts into my PMC EB1i's, and they were just singing right along. The PMC reps had a pair of McIntosh MC1.2Kw amps powering EB1i's at Audio Classics, had the Power Guard lights flashing, and everyone agreed the EB1i's were sounding spectacular. I think you can be confident your OB1i's can take everything your amps can deliver.

PMC's research and development dollars don't go into trying to make cabinets look like a shiny violin, the development centers on making professional quality loudspeakers that are natural sounding, and can take real world use and abuse in stride.

I should mention that the speakers were still Ian's when I was bumping the 1000 watts mark...

I never saw him look the least bit worried...

This is precisely why don't put in print our recommended power handling... however for the OB1i, those were inteneded for more moderate listening levels I wouldn't recommend getting too crazy with them.

Put the sub idea on hold for a while........... your LP/CD collection looks a little weak. :D I would suggest adding to you music library for now and simply enjoy your new speakers. :music: You can always add a sub(s) later if you want.

UNREAL power handling capabilities for a monitor. I would be very very nervous to subject my Cremona Auditors to 1000 watt peaks. I back off when Im peaking anywhere near 400 watts on my 402. then again, they are only rated to 250 watts. Never seen my power guard flicker, yet

I bet those PMC's sound incredible in your room. I would love to demo PMC's someday, never heard them myself. To sub or not to sub, it really isnt a question of if but rather when. ZYour system will sound much better for it. it always does. Minis plus sub(s) are hard to beat. best of both worlds IMO.

great Lps btw, Mayer, SRV S2S, Ella etc.....

Enjoy!

Great choice TD.

When I demo'ed the EB1i's. Mike Sastra hooked up the 1.2Kw and we pushed the needles to the FAR right side. The EB1i's :guitar:

Personal experience: 1) OB1i and above sound wonderful w/o sub. 2) OB1i w/o sub better value than TB2i w/sub.

Hi Ian,

I know exactly what you mean :D

Not that I needed it, hopefully PMC makes bass drivers that are on the PB-1i for the OB-1/OB-1i owners.

Ok...I need it! I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice-cream. :music:

Ian,
What is the power handling for the OB's?

Typically I listen between 3.5 and 35 watts on the MC352 meters, but once and a while a good tune requires more volume. :D:D
