Gordon.......My most profound improvement came from the two meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cables going on the MC501's, and in the studio on the MC352. Like you, this simple change in power cords brought on an undeniable improvement in the bottom octaves. It was not that I got more bass, but that the bass became richer, thicker, with greater texture, more like real bass in a live performance. After going back and forth from the stock cords to the Silver Electra power cords about four different times, I realized it was no placebo effect making me think I was hearing something that wasn't there. The improvement was real, satisfying, and a very nice improvement to my system's overall sound.

I cannot tell you that I heard anywhere near the same level of difference as I added two meter Silver Electra power cables to the remainder of my components, although when the Silver Electra power cables were added to both preamps I noticed an improvement in the space, the air that exists between each and every instrument and voice. I didn't stop there. I added Silver Electra power cords to both MCD500's, the MS750, three Power Plant Premiers, and two subwoofers. I am thoroughly convinced of the improvement in power delivery, and sheilding, so I did not stop until every component in both of my McIntosh systems was powered with the Silver Electra's. I did not put the Silver Electra power cords on my two MR85 tuners, as I see that as complete overkill on a component I seldom use, so the stock power cords remain on the tuners. At this time, I have 13 two meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cords in use. Once I heard what these cords do for the amps I could not stop until I went the distance. Yep, I'm a little lighter in the wallet, but honestly, I couldn't be happier with both systems.

Dan, I plan on putting the next pair on the speakers for a bit and rotate them a couple time into other components to see for myself where the biggest benefit is. I have a terrible rats nest back there right now but that is a challenge for another day!

Your comment about the richness, texture and thickness of the bass is spot on. Seems to have brought a new dimension to the music. Even without the subs!

I was so suprised and pleased with the results from adding Sliver Electra 2.0 power cords to my MC501's, I hadn't planned on waiting so long to try upgrading the power cords to my remaining system components, but here I am, over a year later... so much for plans!

I installed cords to my remaining main system components; 1) C500t, 2) MEN220, 3) MCD500, 4) MS750. Components not critical to sound continue to use their stock cords - eg, moniter for the MS750.

First, I reminded myself that since power amps are the most power-intensive components in an audio system, that less power-intensive components would probably yield more subtle results from power cord upgrades. Besides the obvious logic of that idea, it also served to minimize my expectations - its more fun to be suprised than dissppointed!

Results - An extention of many of the improvements I first heard from the addition of the Wireworld Silver Electra power cords to my MC501's. I heard additional detail - strings more distinct in massed orchestral passages, bass still fatter and better defined. I also heard an improved sound stage, with featured instruments right upfront.
Overall, I thought my system sounded brighter, so I plan to re-run the setup measurements with my MEN220.

I left my factory cords in place, so I could re-connect them to compare with the Wireworld, and have continued to hear these suprising improvements when I return to the Wireworld power cords after listening to the stock cords.

I have decided to keep these cords. This is not a small investment, but if they sound this good now, I assume they will only get beter with break-in time and, to me, justify the investment.

Ted.......Congratulations on the Wireworld Silver Electra power cables. I have one stock cable on my MR85. Every other McIntosh component, and 4 Power Plant Premiers all use the two meter Wireworld Silver Electra power cables. I am very satisfied with the incremental improvements each has added to my systems. My newest Silver Electra went on the MEN220.

I just met the founder and designer for Wireworld cables, David Salz, at the CA Audio Show in Emeryville, CA about a month ago. Really nice guy.

Needless to say, I bought some WW cables, two 2M Stratus power cords, and an Equinox 6 interconnect.

I really like them a lot, and plan to add more to my system, at least another IC and two 1 meter power cords. I think they will become my reference standard for cables.

This has been exactly my experience. I was really a doubter, too, until I got my first couple of power cables, Shunyata Diamondback Platinum. They are also excellent, but quite stiff. The Wireworld cables are quite a bit more flexible, which is nice for dressing the cables in your rack. I will be buying some more to be sure. I need some 1M cables, the 2M ones I have for my phono stage and Preamp (not a Mac, sorry!) are too long.

Okay, all y'all twisted my arm -- or at least my thinking. I have two Wireworld Silver Electra 5.2 2M power cords en route. My initial thinking, based on combing through this forum, is to put them between the wall and the PPPs.

But if I'm following what some of you are doing, you initially kept the stock cords on the PPPs and placed your first set of Wireworld Silver Electra 5.2 on your power amps. Which position would you recommend for the initial replacement?

Of course, I can experiment when they arrive, but I'm not one to re-invent the wheel so I would be interested in your thoughts and experience. From my readings here, it looks like in theory the first placement should be right out of the wall. But empirically, it looks like most folks start by putting them on their amps. So where did you put your first pair of upgraded power cords, please?

Considering you are regenerating, I'd focus on PPP->Amp bridge with the PC's. Then wall->PPP. That way the cleanest power gets the best cords, initially.
