Default Sophia vs. Sophia 2

Has anyone done comparisons of the two? differences? I ask because I can get a great deal on ver1 but If the 2 is that much better I think I'll wait for the 2

I have no local dealer so a 300 mile drive is required they have the 2 but not the 1 obviously so I can't demo side by side

Thanks for the help all

Dave

I was never able to do a side by side comparison, but spending time at my dealer with each I thought the improvements in the Sophia 2 were worthwhile. If you are stuck on Sophia's I would hold off for the 2's, but it is not my money.

Dave Wilson does not do an update/upgrade of his creations just on aesthetics nor a simple change in parts or crossover. The Wilson Sophia 2 is a jump over the Version 1.

I would wait for the Sophia 2!

Cheers!

I've had the same impression. No direct A/B but the Sophia2 improvements seem significant over the series 1. There are more series 1 available on Agon but the 2 has also started to show up fairly regularly. On a related note, there a lot of WP8 at significant discount on Agon right now as dealers dump inventory and demo systems for the new Sasha.

I have seen the same on Agon the wp8 @ 18k still seems steep for a speaker that had a very short life

My guess is they'll go for lower given the slow economy. The longer the listing is up, the chances of getting a deal increase.

Prices seem to be holding pretty well on high-end gear. The top end of the economy doesn't seem to have suffered as much and what little it did seems to have recovered more quickly. The down-side is used gear prices held up too well for bargain hunters.

Dave WIlson stresses authentic value over perceived value.

I am a new member here and a recent proud owner of a gently loved pair of Sophia Is. These are replacing another great speaker, Piega P-10s. I love the sound of the Sophia and am looking forward to being a member on this site.
