"While as it is usually the case, the Sophia 3 was driven by a more budget oriented gear to prove that one doesn't necessarily have to spend a boat load of money to get good sound. In this case it was the lower end of scale Ayre gear. "

Serge, which Ayre gear did you hear the S3s with ? Is it the 60w integrated amp ?

Thanks !!

Serge, great review, as usual. That color is very nice too - that's what Beerdraft had in his Sashas I believe - a color that is pretty versatile. Enjoy!

Separates. The 5 series amp/pre and the new Universal player used as a DAC for Pete's high resolution files. By lower end I meant not the wonderful KX-R/MX-R combo I was used to hearing on the sasha's.

Thanks. I am looking forward to an intimate room/system to listen to vinyl to.

Who knows the 501's may also move to the HT allowing me to start over in the 2 channel room. I'll wait till I hear your robots , I mean S3
Sounds like a good plan David. You'll get to hear the Elipsa in my theater and you can decide. The Sophia 3/Sasha is a must hear for you as well.

He is demoing them with a McIntosh 275... I was hoping to hear them with a Jadis EL-34 amp...
I'd prefer a bit more power for them but do let us know how that audition goes.

I've heard of the Berning amps but haven't heard them in person. The 2301s are on my list of auditions.

Nagra? Yes, possibly, I'll have to see if one of the local dealers has any Nagra to audition at the moment.

Serge ... Congrats!! I hope you go BAT just so I can live vicariously through your review of them. Outstanding review, by the way. I am also very interested in the ASC analysis. Too cool.
