Default Comparing the Lamm ML1.2 with Ayre MX-R

I have been lurking on this site for some time and I have always been curious about Lamm amps. I have heard the MX-R's in my system. Can you compare and contrast the MX-R's with the Lamm's ? If you can, that will be wonderful !

This may be better placed in either the Ayre or Lamm forums. Perhaps the moderator may move it.

This talk about Wilsons really makes me wonder... if it maby is something for me? Getting pretty tired of the B&W 803 S tweeters, they are drawing attention to themselves and ruining the moments :P

Sophia 2 is priced within range someday. Seems like alot of you here are using Wilsons with LAMM etc. Any nice experience with Mcintosh?

Hi Wakkz,

I'm using a Mc402 and C2300 with my Sashas. It is a very nice and musical combination. The 402 does a good job of providing the current needed for the Sasha's 1.8 Ohm dip in the bass and barely even gets warm after a long and loud listening session. I could be very happy with the McIntosh gear for a long time. But...there is always that question of "what if.." and I find myself wondering how those Lamms would sound!

I think you will find a lot of people who pair Wilson with McIntosh both on this forum as well as on the McIntosh forum.

Ayre MX-Rs, a slightly warmer, less neutral, almost tube like sonic signature with Sasha speakers while Lamm is more natural and rich on harmonics and texture. Ayre is a very pleasant sound to my ears, one I can easily live with but with Lamm I often forget all about the gear and get pulled into the music instead. Really can't go wrong with either though.

I would like to try the new B&W 802 (for my room size) Diamond asap. I have heard some very good things about it from people I trust.

I like the changes they have made from the last 802D's. They sound quicker thru the mid range.

I purchased my lamms 2.2 s a few years back. It was a very easy decision to make because i have always wanted them, but my bank account was in pain for quite sometime.
However, it was well worth every penny.
Todate, I haven't really have the urge to replace it with another amp.
They are wonderful amps.
I can't wait for the day that they will finally be paired with either a Sophia or Sasha.

How come Meridian comes into the picture?

Which model do you have in mind? The DSP8000 or ......? Please share your thoughts on your choices for comparison. Would be glad to learn from you.

Thanks.
