Good point there!!

I wouldn't mind owning a pair of Strad's.

Since I've owned 2 pairs of the "Italian" speakers before moving on to Wilson, I can tell you that the Sophia 2 is more accurate, is faster, images just as good as the Italian monitors and can be musical depending on the choice of gear and the quality of the recording but the Sonus Fabers are more forgiving overall.

Now, the Sasha really does sound more engaging and musical, sounds just a bit warmer and a touch darker up top but has retained all the speed, bass articulation and slam and is a very enjoyable speaker.

My dealer was a big SF fan and has owned the Elipsa for a while. He also bought a pair of Sasha for his own system after he heard them.

I agree. I am trying to figure a way of getting back to Singapore at least for a long weekend. Now make sure you don't come to the US without letting us all know.

Just checked again with the local dealer. He will not have the Sasha's in for about 2 weeks.

I don't understand the "fast" comment.....never have.

I presume you mean the bass response? Isn't 4hz or 40hz or 400hz the same sound?

Meaning, if speakers A, B, C and D all do 40hz, isn't that a very specific freqency? How can one be faster/slower than the other? Woudn't the faster 40hz be a higher frequency and the slower 40hz a lower frequency?

Is this a different way to say perhaps the speaker has some distortions and the bass is tubby? (less control on the woofer)

?

I've never understood this. As a preface, I've got horn speakers and had horns for 30 years so haven't known much else.

It seems that the impression I am receiving is that the Elipsa is "faster," more neutral, and more dynamic than the Cremona. But the Sophia's are "faster," more neutral, and more dynamic than the Elipsa. Again, I have not heard the ELipsa or the Wilsons.

Since you have heard these speakers could you answer these questions...

1) In your opinion, how does the Elipsa sound different from the Cremona...

&

2) In your opinion, how does the Elipsa sound different from a Sophia II.

I've never understood this. As a preface, I've got horn speakers and had horns for 30 years so haven't known much else.

I think that some speakers are able to start and stop a note faster than others. There are many speakers that have aluminum or ceramic drivers for the lows and mids and they seem to have a different sound from "traditional" paper or similar drivers. Some people like silk dome tweters, where others prefer Beryllium or Diamond coated. Also the enclosure and how it vibrates can make the speaker sound like it takes different amounts of time to produce a given note.
