It will have to be maple, I don't think graphite will work very well for my current plan for the theater.

I heard the Maple Elipsas as you probably read recently being pushed by MC2301's/C500 & DCS source/clock in a well controlled room & it was just awesome. I was impressed and reflect back in my memory of the audition -- maybe still a sideways move as I had thought - but different nevertheless. Great treble and midrange. The bass didn't have the slam I'm used to but it could easily be rectified (and not necessarilly in a hurry either).

The Elipsa is a musical and engaging speaker with lots of leeway for different amplification and synergy. The also don't do much of anything wrong. Their bass certainly doesn't leave one thinking it is really lacking either. It is only by comparison to a few select speakers that you realize that yes, there is room for improvement.

I was really surprised at how well they sounded in the bass department for going down to 35Hz-- like I said, lacking a bit, but not as much as one would think by number comparison only. Agree with your last 5 words -- not necessarilly something that HAS to be done immediately or as a next step.

With my test disk I get sound coming out down to 20 hz. Serge has two JLF112's for his home theater so bass is not something he will be lacking

David, how many dBs down? Just about any speaker can do 20Hz, the question is, how much of a drop off is there at that level? That's why the specs will usually mention say, 25Hz at -3dB, or 20Hz at -6dB, etc... I will have to experiment with the Elipsa in the new room of course to see how the F112s will blend in with them.
