Listening to Tsuyoshi Trio Yamamoto , album-Midnight Sugar, track-the nearness of you, on Rhapsody via the MCD500 and the JLF112/ cremona's sound so much bigger now. I am very happy . I can only imagine how great a pair of Stradavari or Amati would sound with the MC501's.

TommyC.......I don't see a subwoofer listed in your signature. Are you using a sub with your Sonus Faber Guarneri Memento speakers?

I have just been through the demo process for an upgrade in the next week or so.
Have decided on the Moon P8/W7 pre/power with Amati, having started with the plan of getting the Elipsa.
I love the look of the Elipsa and it being wider than it is deep was to be a consideration in our living room, but then hearing the Amati in comparison I have fallen in love!
The Elipsa was a lot of fun and the sound was full, with deep driving bass notes, but the Amati comes across as more civilised but still gives all the range and fullness. The vocals have noteably better information coming through, allowing you to follow the inflections of tone better.

The Amati comes across as so effortless and seamless, making the Elipsa sound rather brash in comparison.

It's not that the Elipsa sounded like that on it's own merit, but reverting to it after the Amati, I realised how beguiling the Amati is...... allowing you to really hear in the recordings and get a sense of the atmosphere of the venue. The ability they have to allow the realism and musicality of notes makes it seem like the people/instrument is in the room - as the speaker disappears more convincingly than anything else I have heard.

jdandy... I'm not using a sub at the moment. I'm afraid it'll screw up my 2 channel sound.

TommyC.......When I added the McIntosh XLS112 sub to the mix with the Cremona Auditors the entire sound stage grew in depth and width, and the bottom octave that is completely missing is now seamlessly added, giving the Auditors the authority of true full range speakers. I can tell you with certainty, you will not screw up your two channel performance. The improvement will knock your socks off. If I did not already own the XLS112, which was replaced in my main system by a JL Audio Fathom f113, I would have purchsed a Fathom f112 to go with the Auditors. Since I had the XLS112 just sitting around, I put it in service, and I am so glad I did. Wow! It blends perfectly, was easy to dial into the auditor's bottom end, and reproduces excellent deep bass performance, completely in harmony with the Auditors. I have the subwoofer set to 65 Hz, and there is zero localization. All the bass appears in the sound stage, perfectly focused, and solid. Trust me on this one. Take the leap of faith on a Fathom f112. You will wonder why you waited so long.

Interesting. I'm going to have a closer look through the JL Audio forum. In the mean time, a sub (or 2 ) has been added to my shopping list
