But would you pick up a pair of foggy Amatis if they were a steal? Sound is the most important thing after all, and if they were for sale for the price of Cremonas, you could pick them up and put them in a dark room? They still sound like Amatis after all. Or if they looked that bad, buy them for a bargain price, and refinish them.

Uberbrown.......I would buy foggy Amatis is the price was right. On the other hand, if I owned a pair of foggy Amatis and wanted to sell them, it would be very difficult to price them low enough to be attractive to a prospective SF buyer despite the defective finsh.

How do you find the bass. In my largish room, the bass is a little lean and lacks some slam - nicely argumented by the REM sub thou. From the mids up they are just about perfect.

Bass is just amazing, I didn't need the F113's I just happened to want them.

I believe there are 2 serial numbers on the Strads. One is on the front just above the tweeter. The other one is on the speaker binding post plate.

I found the serial number.

yes Tommy, they do have it on the leather above the tweeter in red. There is no s/n on the speaker binding post.

BTW, The Strads still go low and have dynamics, however generally the Strads like a dominent amp to deliver real bass dynamics and control. My all tube gear's strength does not really lie in massive bass control and dynamics and my room is quite large being 26 x 22 x 9.

then again my previous speakers the Vienna mahlers had huge bass all over the room and very hard to control.
