Default Shindo sings again

Well, as many of you already know, I recently purchased a full ARC Reference system. REF2 Phono, REF40th, REF250s... It has been a while since I placed Shindo away in a cabinet and have been listening to the ARC system only.

Just as I suspected from the beginning that the ARC's potential would simply be wasted in my room, it became rather clear in the end. My 96dB Tannoy do not need anywhere near that power which is pretty obvious in itself. It was funny to see the REF250s cruising along at a fraction of a watt.

I have decided to part with the ARC system and let someone else put it through it's paces in a more demanding environment.

After the REF2 Phono was sold, I decided to put the rest of the ARC components away for now and give Shindo a spin. It would be fun to give it a listen after being away from it for a while.

All Shindo components in place, wired up with Shindo ICs and the A23 speaker cables strapped to the Tannoys, the music from the vinyl grooves of my Paschetto TT with SME309 and EMT TSD 15 nudie cart feeding the EAR 324P Phono stage began to flow...

What can I say, I guess my ears are in alignment with Shindo more than any other gear. It just sounds so damn right to me! The full and smooth bodied sound, rich with harmonic bloom, nuanced, delicate and finely textured... It just flows so naturally and I had a huge grin on my face! The ears hear what they hear and Shindo makes my ears very happy.

Bottom line, the $62k worth of ARC could not dethrone Shindo, the reigning champ of my "analog room".

Serge... Good read!

My sickness lately is that I find I like multiple system combos; you know that Variety Spice cliche'

Lucky you, happy with just your Shindo!

The simplicity, compactness and that gorgeous sound is all I need in my more intimate, "smaller scale" of things, analog room.

When the mood strikes to listen to CDs or do more of a "critical" listening session where I want to get a "bigger scale", fully resolving and detailed yet well balanced sound that excites with the visceral impact and a soundstage that opens up and envelops you from all the sides, I retread to my theater where the sheer grunt and control of the Bryston muscle drives the Sonus Fabers with the Krell Class A preamp and EAR tubed CDP providing the balance of harmonic tube richness and bloom with the resolution and drive of solid state.

I think the two rooms are very different yet both so satisfying on different levels!

Yes, Ivan, I do know what you mean about the variety and different systems!

Serge
It is good to hear that you have found what your looking for. Once you have heard a certain sound and it is in your head, it is hard to accept anything else.

Dpod4,

Out of curiosity, why did you shelve the Shindo in the first place?

I never had Shindo. If I started a second system it would be Shindo.

Had a crazy idea to run multiple systems in the same room! Must have been bored that week.
