Default PPP Question

Just hooked up my PPP last week and getting the first time to really spend some time with it. My current readings are 122 v input, 123 v output and 1.4% thd before, 0.4% thd after. Very basic question, Shouldn't my output be at 120v?

Thanks!

Steve

You need to take a meter and check the voltage coming out of your wall and also the corrected voltage on the rear of your PPP. There is an adjustment screw on the bottom that will allow you to correct the reading of the PPP's meter. Just about everyone of us has found the initial reading to be off.

I will try and find Dan's post that has the PSA Audio repair manual that tell's you how to go about this.

Here is the manual that describes how to adjust your readouts.

I just get a black screen when I click on that link.

I struggled with the display not syncing up to the voltage shown on the volt meter when I set it up, and with the help from the guys here, and this note from Scott at PS Audio, I got it set correctly. So, if you get your voltage set on 120 out of the outlets in the back and it still says 122, or 118 on the display, try what Scott from PS told me to do below.

The reading you get when in Setup Mode is different from the actual reading. They have different reference points, so if you have to up the Setup Mode voltage a couple of volts above 120 to achieve an actual reading of 120V when under normal operation, that is quite regular. Possibly this suggestion is helpful.

Best,
Scott

multiham.......The screw adjustment on the bottom of the PPP adjusts the actual output voltage for the receptacles on the rear. If you have a voltage meter, read the voltage with the meter at one of the receptacles while you adjust the screw on the bottom until you are getting exactly 120 volts output.

The digital display calibration, as outlined in the service manual, is independent of the actual voltage output. Once you have set the output accurately with a meter and the screw on the bottom, then follow the calibration procedure for getting the output display to read 120 volts.

Try going to this thread then find Post #5 from Dan and see if you can use his link that way.

Well I'll be....from the info in this thread, looks like i have titrated my PPP incorrectly. I dont have a voltmeter. I just twisted the dial beneath the unit until my display on the PPP read 120 v output. This manuveur did not change the read out of the input voltage.

So, are ya'll saying that the output reading on the display is not what the output at the receptacles is??

Out of the box, it was reading 119 volt output on the display. Just took a small adjustment to get it to 120v. Now, when i unplug the unit, it returns to 120 output when I plug it back in and it settles in without additional adjustments of the screw.

I guess the short answer is I need a voltmeter, eh?

Jason.......You might just be one of the lucky ones, and that tiny tweak of the pot on the bottom may have put you exactly on 120 volts output. There is only one way to know for sure. Test the voltage at the rear of the PPP with a meter.
