Power Plant Premier #4 Installed

Yesterday I slid my fourth PS Audio Power Plant Premier under the home theater gear rack and energized it, but did not plug any components into it. I let it burn it for a day. Today I did the final tweaking of the output voltage, and the input and output display calibrations. It is now powering the home theater system delivering clean, regulated, perfect sine wave power to the MX120, MC352, MR85, and Oppo BDP-83. There is no need to repeat all the praise that has already been heaped on the Power Plant Premier. It is performing its job perfectly, and the HT system is reaping the clean power benefits. I have the Power Plant Premier plugged into the wall mounted PS Audio Soloist Premier SE outlet, fed with a 20 amp dedicated circuit.

As you can see, one PPP is under the tube gear rack, and one PPP is under the HT gear rack, quietly performing their magic. Highly recommended.

Dan, do you use the "multi-wave" setting?

Ivan.......I have not been using Multi-Wave on any of the PPP's. I gave Multi-Wave a thorough and extended audition on my main system upstairs, and ultimately decided that I prefered not to use it. I have not tried Multi-Wave on the studio tube system, or the home theater system, but have thought about trying it.

I might give the tube system a try first, and then the HT system, just to hear if my impression might be different on either of these systems.

I know from past posts that you have said you use Multi-Wave exclusively on all your PPP's. Is that still the case, including the Cape systems?

Dan, if you are not already using a UPS for your system with the MX120, I would highly recommend it. Ivan and I both use the PS Audio PowerPack 1500 with excellent results. I believe in having every one of my components with a microprocessor in it connected to a UPS.

I do like Multi-Wave on my SS amps. I experimented with it on my 2301's and also prefer it on them.

A Big +1 on PS Audio's Powerpack 1500.

John.......I am with you on the UPS backup. I use an APC UPS-750 unit upstairs to backup the MS750 and the MR88. I use two APC UPS-750 backups in the studio. One UPS supports the HD satellite receiver, and the Sony widescreen. The second UPS is plugged into the PPP for the HT system, and supports the MX120, and MR85. They both sit on the floor out of sight behind the subwoofer and center channel speakers. You cannot have too much protection.

John.......This morning I counted my UPS units. I have nine. The are backing up computers, HD satellite receivers and widescreens, digital mixer with hard drive, and audio equipment in three systems. I look at them as reasonable insurance protection against the ravages of the electric utilities. The power in Florida, particularly in the rural areas, often endures momentary drop outs when there are storms and/or the wind is blowing, and tree limbs hit the power lines. The UPS backups protect the connected equipmet from the in-rush of voltage and current when the utility company's automatic reclosers function, and the power comes rushing back on a section of the grid. The gear never sees it with the UPS backups in place. After a momentary outage, the UPS backups keep me from having to wait four or five minutes for the HD satellite receviers to reboot and load the updated guides. UPS units are a worth every penny.

Well, as usual, Dan, you have me beat. I am only using 7 UPS's in all. I really do like the PS Audio PowerPack 1500 since it is of the same quality as the PPP's and integrates well with them.
