Here's a link to the first review of the PS Audio Perfect Wave Transport and Perfect Wave DAC. PS ADUIO PERFECT WAVE TRANSPORT AND DAC For me, it was eye open with respect to the files it is capable of playing, or rather the files it is incapable of playing at this time. There is a lot to like about the two pieces, and some things that leave you wondering why a solution was created before they hit the streets.

I saw Perfect Wave Transport and DAC in the latest Audio Advisor catalog they send me that I recieved today. They're out there, ready for public debut.

I found the Stereo MoJo review quite interesting, especially the fact that only .wav files will play high-resolution in the transport, and no SACD or DVD-A. Also, the transport doesn't support FLAC, Lossless, or MP3 files. That doesn't sound like the perfect transport to me. The Perfect Wave DAC is another story. It sounds very interesting, and can be used as a preamp with balanced output.

Pete.......The companies and ad agencies that produce mail order catalogs for folks like Audio Advisor, and many others are constantly searching and purchasing mailing lists. Some audio dealer you have done business with in the past, or a company you have registered a warranty card with has added your name to their mailing list, and sold that list to ayone willing to pay, including many catalog producers. That is how it gets done.

The "StereoMojo" review is great. However, think its a little dated as PS Audio had already done the update - and they CAN play the other files - as far as I know from their website.

As for SACD playability, think it will be either a software/firmware update (highly not as the ROM used is a DVD rom ... so likely I am wrong here).

As a standalone CD player cum Preamp, think its one of the better ones out there. Hmmm, I am thinking of getting one set myself.

Okay so here's the deal with the playback of various audio formats. The Perfect Wave Transport currently only supports WAV files. We intend to support additional formats in the future, but this will take time. All units, including those currently shipping can support additional formats through firmware updates.

Personally I don't see the lack of format support as a big deal. In order to burn a disc containing FLAC or MP3 files you will need a computer. So with a couple of extra clicks you can use the computer to convert the file to WAV and then burn the WAV files to the disc. Many programs, including Media Monkey (which is free by the way) support automatic conversion.

Ryan.......When you say, "All units, including those currently shipping can support additional formats through firmware updates." do you mean that these firmware updates are available now? If available, what formats do these firmware updates currently support?
