Default Grammy Week-PMC at the Village Recording Studios in West Los Angeles

NEWS

TWO GREAT BRITISH MANUFACTURERS SPONSOR PRODUCERS & ENGINEERS WING® GRAMMY® WEEK EVENT

Los Angeles, USA: Prism Sound, manufacturer of premium-quality interfaces, processors and SADiE audio production software for the recording and broadcast markets, and PMC, world-professional leading manufacturer of high resolution loudspeaker systems are proud to sponsor The Recording Academy® Producers & Engineers Wing®’s third annual GRAMMY® Week event, to be held at the Village Recording Studios in West Los Angeles. Set for Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, days before the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, this event honors excellence in music, audio, and the professionals who work behind the scenes to create great recordings.

As part of 2010 GRAMMY Week, the P&E Wing will be celebrating the music of Island Records and its founder Chris Blackwell, whose vision and commitment brought to the world the music of artists such as Desmond Dekker and the Aces, Nick Drake, Melissa Etheridge, Grace Jones, Bob Marley, Roxy Music, Cat Stevens, Toots and the Maytals, U2, Steve Winwood, and many others.

The event, entitled "Catch a Fire," is named for Bob Marley's first album, which is a 2010 inductee into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame. Honorary chairs for the event are GRAMMY-winning musician/producers Jimmy Jam and Daniel Lanois.

Prism Sound and PMC will be displaying their latest products in Studio D of the Village Studios. In Prism Sound’s case these products will include the ADA8-XR converter and Orpheus Computer FireWire interface, while PMC will be presenting their new DB1S-A & TB2S-A MKII near-field monitors and also a sneak preview of the new AML2 mid-field monitor, which will be officially launched in February. Maurice Patist, Global Strategic Sales Manager of PMC, says: “We were invited to be a sponsor of this celebration following a very successful listening event that we ran at Village Studios back in September 2009. We, in turn, felt that partnering with Prism Sound would result in an unbeatable combination. Our product lines are complimentary and appeal to the same client base, plus both companies are prime examples of high end engineering and manufacturing, giving us a perfect opportunity to wave the British flag.”

Graham Boswell, director of Prism Sound, adds: “We were very pleased to be invited to partner with PMC in sponsoring this event with the P&E Wing of The Recording Academy during GRAMMY Week. The success of our well-attended “Mic to Monitor” and “Mastering Mastering” tours in the United States during 2009 and ultimately our sponsorship of this event reflect the massive changes taking place in the music recording industry where producers and engineers now work independently, much of the time on their own desktop. Prism Sound, SADiE and PMC products are the perfect combination for music recording and production in 2010. We congratulate all of the nominees and wish them the best of luck in the GRAMMY Awards.”

Currently more than 6,000 professionals comprise The Recording Academy Producers & Engineers Wing, which was established for producers, engineers, remixers, manufacturers, technologists, and other related creative and technical professionals in the recording field. This organized voice for the recording community addresses issues that affect the craft of recorded music, including the development and implementation of new technologies, technical guidelines and recommendations, and archiving and preservation initiatives.
