The audio market in Riyadh is pretty much lacking compared to other large cities around the world. You would think with all the money here there would be more options. We have two stores. One carries Focal JM Labs, Definitive tech, Parasound and Arcam. The other one has Sonus Faber, Duntech, Audio Research, Wadia and Accurus?spelling?.

The store with the Focals is ran by some pretty snobby people. They basically don't want to deal with you unless you want something from the Utopia lineup. So I don't go there. The other store with Sonus Faber is ran by one man who's owned the store for over 20yrs now. He actually takes time to talk and listen to what you want. So that's where I plan on doing some business.

Matt...i have a few buddies who work in Dubai and one of them is an audiofool and he tells me that there are quite a few high end audio shops there that carry quite a wide selection. So if you ever make it there, you might want to consider checking them out. Here are some links:

Check out these pics of a sand storm that hit Riyadh last spring. It was one of the worst sand storms in the past 20yrs I guess. When I got up in the late morning around 10am (was on night shift at the time) and looked outside everything had the orange glow to it.
