Ho hum...another one of SLF's albums by a group that I've never heard of. Man, just how many albums do you have?! Amazing...

Jimmie Spheeris - The Dragon Is Dancing
(1975, Epic)

3rd record from Spheeris. I first heard his 1971 debut record, Isle Of View, a few years ago, really enjoy it, so I snapped this up when I saw it recently. The first record was moody guitar and piano based folk-rock; this record is still driven by his songwriting and vocals, but with rock and jazz-rock arrangements. Chick Corea plays here.

That's the great thing about this thread, I love discovering new-to-me artists. Of course there's an emotional connnection with the music we heard growing up. It's all about the music. (I highly recommend Pentangle if you're into folk-rock)

Bought this album in 1959 when stereo was brand-new, and the channel separation of the early Command recordings was pretty spectacular. Playing it today reminds me that the music was awful but it is still fun to listen to the, still spectacular, Command stereo.

I have at least one Command title by Tony "Mr. Guitar" Mottola, and it's a terrific sounding recording and fun covers of popular songs even with schmaltzy easy listening string arrangements at times.

I found an interesting Command records history/discography here

Fairport Convention - Babbacombe Lee
(1971, A&M)

Fairport Convention for this record consisted of Simon Nichol, Dave Mattacks, Dave Swarbrick, Dave Pegg. A concept record based on the life of a victorian era murderer. With a custom gatefold record jacket, booklet, and the record label includes a paragraph of text introducing that side's events in Lee's life. I picked this up at HPB for a fiver last month.
