Default Gold Lion KT88 & MC275/MC2301

I have a MC275 where I mounted the Genalex Gold Lion KT88.
The value of Ip and Gm are respectively 65 and 8,100.

I checked the same valve, the higher the value of GM (transconductance), better the result!

What are the values of KT88 mounted on your MC275 and MC2301?

The valves on the market have the Gm values every time lower!

I'm sorry for my poor english!

I purchased 50 new gold lions and was only able to measure 4 tubes at 8800 to 9100. All the rest came in at 7500 to 8000 on my Hickok 539C. The 12ax7 and 12au7 measure very strong, waiting for the 12at7's with high expectations for my 275 and 2301.

Roger that Dan -- really looking forward to trying these in the amps. I'm very happy with the 12AX7GENGP's in the C500T (MC side -- still haven't gotten to the line side yet--guess I qualify for laziness).

Bob.......Come on, get them installed on the porch. I'd be very interested in how they sound in your C500 line stage. If I buy any of the Gold Lion 12AX7's, that's where they will go first in my preamp.

"On the porch" means what, please?

Britt.......On the C500T and the C1000T preamps, the line stage tubes are in the window up front. The space behind the window is refered to as the front porch.

Thanks for the clarification. That's funny. Makes sense to me now.

In the back of my mind, I had always thought it would be cool if McIntosh would design a preamp, or a plug in of sorts, the way the C500T and C1000T have separate boxes, that would allow for the switching of multiple sets of tubes with a switch rather than having to open the preamp up, remove the cover and roll tubes like that. It would be cool to be able to switch between different choices in the line stage.
