Regarding the New Sensor Genelex KT88's I put them in and really didn't like them.
I had them in for 2 weeks and took them out. Maybe I didn't leave them in long enough to burn in, but they were so bad to my ears that I had to take them out. Not sure what to try now. Or maybe put them back in and run it for another couple of weeks. Any suggestions?

MC2301: replaced the stock 12AT7 tubes with Telefunken NOS ECC801S tubes. Lovely sound! Replaced the stock Winged-C KT88 tubes with GL KT88 tubes. I asked New Sensor to provide two matched octets and I received 16 tubes, each with an Ip of 65 and Gm of 7900. Swapped the ECC801S tubes for GL ECC81/B739 GP (Gold Pin). Best sound yet out of my MC2301 amps (so far) with GLs.
C1000T: replaced the stock 12AX7 tubes with Siemens/Haltron NOS 12AX7 tubes, then Tungsol 12AX7 tubes, then Grant Fidelity TJ 12AX7 tubes and finally with GL ECC83/B759 GP (Gold Pin) tubes. Best sound yet out of my C1000T preamp (so far) with GLs. I have two octets of KT88-Z tubes ('Black Bottles') ready to try in my MC2301 amps. |

Chuck,
In all fairness I suspect one of your GL tubes may have been damaged in shipment. If they are up to snuff I think they sound pretty good. I have four that sound and measure good but I also once had one go bad. I would suggest you have someone check them or measure your amp with the tubes installed. I am impressed with the KT88-Z tubes but once again I had one that was low in output which the supplier covered. These fragile tubes get a lot of banging around in freight if sent all the way around the world. thanks,
