What are the values of KT88 mounted on your MC275 and MC2301?
Have you others feedback?

Regarding the New Sensor Genelex KT88's I put them in and really didn't like them.

I had them in for 2 weeks and took them out.

Maybe I didn't leave them in long enough to burn in, but they were so bad to my ears that I had to take them out.

Not sure what to try now. Or maybe put them back in and run it for another couple of weeks.

Any suggestions?

Default GLs Everywhere!

MC2301: replaced the stock 12AT7 tubes with Telefunken NOS ECC801S tubes. Lovely sound! Replaced the stock Winged-C KT88 tubes with GL KT88 tubes. I asked New Sensor to provide two matched octets and I received 16 tubes, each with an Ip of 65 and Gm of 7900. Swapped the ECC801S tubes for GL ECC81/B739 GP (Gold Pin). Best sound yet out of my MC2301 amps (so far) with GLs.

C1000T: replaced the stock 12AX7 tubes with Siemens/Haltron NOS 12AX7 tubes, then Tungsol 12AX7 tubes, then Grant Fidelity TJ 12AX7 tubes and finally with GL ECC83/B759 GP (Gold Pin) tubes. Best sound yet out of my C1000T preamp (so far) with GLs.

I have two octets of KT88-Z tubes ('Black Bottles') ready to try in my MC2301 amps.

Chuck,

In all fairness I suspect one of your GL tubes may have been damaged in shipment. If they are up to snuff I think they sound pretty good. I have four that sound and measure good but I also once had one go bad.
I would suggest you have someone check them or measure your amp with the tubes installed.
I am impressed with the KT88-Z tubes but once again I had one that was low in output which the supplier covered. These fragile tubes get a lot of banging around in freight if sent all the way around the world.

thanks,
