Better late than never? MT10 Turntable. Who owns one? Who had one? What are the pros/cons? Heard it's great out of the box... You either love its looks or you don't... I think it looks cool, distinctively McIntosh that would stack well in a rack with other Mac gear. Most importantly, how does it sound? How flexible with customization...cartridges? MC/MM? Tone arm & cable matches without going too over the top.

Considering getting into vinyl given the number of pressings hitting the market. Much remains vinyl only... Last time I spun vinyl, I was a kid that played on grandma's 3-way... That was decades ago. There's a small collection in the family which I could probably start with... The Lady likes the look of the MT10 too.

Is the MT10 a good table? I'm sure there is a premium for the form factor but considering I have a C1000C/T & MC2301s, I'm thinking it maybe a logical step into the medium in the coming months. If I dive in, I don't want any disappointments....

I'd appreciate any input starting with the M10 and perhaps customized better... Any more rumored updates to this source?

Thanks.

I've got one. Used it about 10 times unfortunately. My vinyl collection sucks and I am very hesitant to invest in it. I'm hooked in digital. It's a nice unit, and oddly enough seems to be based entirely on a McIntosh design (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). It would pair very nicely with your C1000.

Happy to correct you. Mostly built by one of the larger European (eastern?) TT/TA makers for McIntosh. Same with the cartridge. Final assembly into the McIntosh specific chassis may be done in Binghamton, but it is mostly built elsewhere. Never used one, but the reviews are positive. allen bh......... you may have a home for your under-utilized MT10 with MyPal.

I think they are nice. Rumor has it that they are going to be discontinued soon and replaced by a less expensive model.

I have previously been roasted for describing the MT10 as ugly. Well OK, what I actually said was it is butt ugly, but that was before I was chastised into considering the feelings of MT10 owners, both of them. At the time, I didn't think anyone would own one when I uttered those words, but I was wrong. Anyway, I have seen several MT10's since I wrote my initial comment, and I will admit my opinion has changed, if only slightly. To me the MT10 looks generic to all the other McIntosh components with zero sex appeal. Yeah, it has a blue meter, and about as useless as tits on a bore, but it's there by golly. The MT10 is built like a battleship, and those who own one speak highly of its performance, for which I'll have to take their word since I will never own one. Obviously there's no accounting for taste, and it is evident that mine does not lean toward........, uh, let me think a minute so I don't re-offend owners......., my taste needs to be satisfied with a turntable that actually looks like a turntable and not a cyclops metered Mac stack box. Of course YMMV.

Now deploying flame shield.
