Scott, all;
I am fortunate to have two completely separate systems - a dedicated HT that is acoustically pretty dead, and a two channel listening room that is part of a larger living area in our basement. The 2 channel system is all McIntosh.

The HT uses an MX-135 Pre/Pro, all the rest is a mix - Sherborn amplifier, Oppo 95, HTPC, some Behringer amps and equalizers. I don't try and follow the latest and greatest Pre/Pro trends. I'm sending HDMI video straight to the PJ, and running 5.1 analog into the McIntosh. All-in-all sounds pretty good but not up to the level of the 2 channel system. But all the equipment in my HT cost less than my 2 ch speakers!

I do have plan to replace the Sherborn and Behringer amps with McIntosh next year.

My family uses the HT a lot, I mostly listen to 2 channel and pick up a movie a week on average.

Regards,

Tom

JWC- Sorry to hear about your HT Funk. At least you still love music and if you wanted to you could hook up your 2 channel McIntosh to your TV and watch in stereo. You still have options available to you if you decide to return to HT. At least you are being true to yourself and your audio video feelings.

I like to have the option of two channel and HT. There are certainly times when I enjoy listening to two channel. Certain recordings warrant two channel only and other genres, Sci Fi, can only sound good in HT. I was an old Quadraphonic man way back in the 70s. I might have been one of the first people to concert to Quad. Maybe I just like all the extra equipment that HT requires you to purchase.
