I don't follow Marantz too close. I know the KI Editions are valued in the UK. Is this the first KI Edition released in the US?

I always liked the looks of Marantz as well...especially the early to mid 70's gear. My first true component system (at age 14) had a Marantz 1030 Integrated amp at its center. I still have it-it still powers up but I haven't tested it. My Mom had it for many years, then it went to the garage where it stayed until 2005. When I had to downsize Mom's living arrangement, I rescued it. As a kid, you couldn't keep me out of those stores looking at the Marantz gear. One store in Binghamton had Mac too...I looked at it but I knew that was out of my league! That Marantz gear was classy looking.

I bought a brand new Marantz 1060 integrated amp back in 1972 (still have it, along with original boxes and manual). I had it tested twice, once in 1972 at a Marantz Audio Clinic and once in 1973 at a Mac Clinic.

I still have the test results. The results from the Marantz clinic were as follows:

Max power/ch @ 20 Hz: 35 watts
Max power/ch @ 2 kHz: 45 watts
Max power/ch @ 20 kHz: 42.5 watts

At rated power of 30 watts/ch the total harmonic distortion was:

20 Hz: 0.1%
2 kHz: 0.03%
20 kHz: 0.11%

All tests were with both channels driven. These were very good numbers for an amplifier back in those days.

At the McIntosh Clinic, which produced almost identical results, I distinctly remember the technician at the clinic commenting, "These results are McIntosh grade". Pretty good stuff for an amp that retailed for $200 in 1972 dollars.
