Wow, that's great you finally received the player. And enjoying it as well.

The Pearl player has the digital input, but I don't think they're selling like hot cakes despite the positive press.

Is the difference great between the S1 vs S2?

Tricky...the S2 version is sounds better to my ears. It's very close to the SA7. This being said my replacement S2 is now in the shop

dbz... player will still not play SACD's but sounds great with redbook. I've got it for sale and cheap.

Hhmm, I was looking to get a SA-15S2, though Cd isn't my main priority (vinyl is). Sorry to hear about this Dave.

(I'm in the UK and need a gold/champagne one to match other equipment, but I'm still a little surprised by this).

I'm not sure if the SA-15S2 shares the same issue. I had one and haven't heard of any failures yet.

Vinyl is my priority also. The 15S2 is a nice player and shouldn't be a problem. I've had bad luck with the SA11S1 that went back for repair 9 times in a 3 year time frame. Marantz replaced it with a S2 and now it's doing the same thing. I'm not impressed to say the least plus their customer service is horrible.
