This is not ment to start a war or anything. But am I correct to think that Marantz is a little higher end then Denon? I like them both, though I do tend to think Denon is getting a little to much like box store ish,
I was really looking into Denon for my pre/pro due to the great reviews, but when I took the time to listen to the marantz ( I always stayed away from marantz, I dont know why really, it might have been the black and gold look) I was really surprised on how nice the sound was. so I know they are from the same D&M holdings, but what are their respective markets? Is it Denon Marantz then Mcintosh? *Disclaimer* The real market is what sounds the best to you.

I tend to agree with the notion that Marantz is a touch better than Denon. My first Denon product was purchased in 1994, the DP-45a turntable. what a great product. I also enjoy a Denon AV 3502 AV receiver that is 8 or 9 years old. It has also been a good product, but I am hoping to upgrade that unit to the Marantz 8003 receiver.

the Marantz 8003 is a really nice unit. Really has great feats. But the best part is you dont have all the " forced logos" all over the front. Its really nice and clean. The mass market logos are on top of the unit, where it doesnt take away from the unit.

They are different. Denon usually always develops the tech and rolls it out. Marantz then takes what works after a year or so with Denon and applies it. Denon is good for detail and dynamics. Marantz is more smoother and usually an easier listen. Marantz do some solo projects though like their 9 monos and their UD9 blu ray. They both make good products.
