Okay, I wasn't sure/couldn't remember on the Jag....I guess I'm starting to skip a little too...

Yep, 385HP is plenty!

Just picked up a AV8003. Will compare it to my McIntosh MX119 as soon as I get it. That should be a fair comparison in 2-channel mode.

College football and Hockey are almost upon us. I have been considering the MM-8003 and AV-8003 for my surround system. Simple and looks good.

Looking for your comments.

Jim.......The Marantz AV-8003 is a very attractive pre/pro, and the 8 channel x 140 watts Marantz MM-8003 is the glove that would be a perfect fit, in my opinion. There is a lot to like here. Both pre/pro and amp can be had for a combined total of $5K. That's a lot of performance for a very attractive price.

I think they look very tasteful. I told Linda that I would only upgrade the lower level system if she is going to watch stuff too. It is time to upgrade the 65" Sony HDTV to something a bit larger.

Jim.......I have a similar situation with Marlene. She will go about the house enjoying music, and from time to time tell me she really likes a piece of music I am playing, but I'll ask her if she'd like to sit and listen, and the answer is usually no, she has other things to do, or a television program she wants to watch.

It is the same for movies, too. She will ask me to rent a particular Blu-ray movie from Netflix, yet when it arrives it will sit for a month. The last movie she asked me to rent sat here six weeks, I finally watched it alone, and sent it back. If I can get her to sit and watch a movie she will be up and down all through it, and this drives me nuts. So I watch movies at night when she has gone to sleep. Then I can enjoy the movie without interruption, or her wanting to chat while the movie is in progress.

Aside from the balanced outputs, the new AV7005 looks like a better prospect than the AV8003.

One item to think about is the new Marantz AV7005 that is coming out this fall...looks like a nice update to the feature set of the AV8003. Not sure with the price reduction if the sound quality (especially analog) will be as good

The AV7005 retails for half of the av8003. I too wonder where they cut.

Anyhow, I got a killer deal on it so I am very very happy. Can't wait to get it.
