I've heard them and for me, they kick some serious hiney. They had them behind a screen when I went to the company gathering a year or so ago. They had them next to a mystery pair of speakers and wanted some people to do a A/B test to give some general commentary back to the company.
Although I'll refrain from repeating some of my commentary here, the bottom line for me was next to the mystery speakers, "choice A" sounded better, more real, more life like, more dynamic and the last comment that I used (which I won't repeat here) was "B" sounds more like music you'd hear in the Dr's office while "A" sounds more like the band is out in the room with you. Turns out "B" was a comparable B&W speaker although I don't know which model. I also did not peak behind the curtain which I could have done. I did an honest commentary without knowing exactly what I was listening to. |

I listened to the Pals P-39, B&W 800, 802,801 and the XRT1K in the same store. I preferred the pals to the B&W's..all of them. Horns typically win my ears over. My wife likes the look of the B&W's but never won us over on sound.
I came close to pull the trigger on the pals.....but the XRT1K's did the trick for me. My wife auditioned them w/o me and liked them the best. This is really the first pair of non Klipsch speakers I've ever had (besides DIY) .The pals won't resemble the klipsch heritage sound IMO. They have a vary "smooth" bass that is hard to describe. Great soundstage. Klipsch promos these with the MAC 2300 and 402 in there photo introduction series. People should go check them out. They may be right for your ears. jc

I heard them at audioclassics..... They are definetly "klipsch sounding". I liked them better when we were running Mcintosh xr200's together! We then ran the palladiums w/ the MEN220 and was ASTOUNDED as to the increase in bass response and the "mellowing " of the highs. A fine speaker but I believe the pricepoint is a little high. by the way , they are not at 107db efficiency I think its more like 97db....

I did P39 for the front, P38 for the rear and P27 as the center. Will post some pictures when I get home, still trying to figure out the Mac gear to power it.
