Size of the driver does not matter whatsoever in terms of musicality and integration. If you look at the impulse response of all three subs from JL, you will see they are very similar. What you get is more output and extension as you move up their line, which is what ones goal should be when looking at different subs (THD, linear response etc are huge factors as well of course).

To the OP, I am fan of having multiple subs. What you get with the 113 over a 112 is greater extension by 1hz, and about 3db more output from 30hz and below.

Go with a pair of 112's unless you see yourself adding another 113 later on.

A smaller pair will give a flatter in room response than a single large sub.

Thanks for coming to the rescue. There are good discussions in this thread, and as I was reading thru them, I sat back and thought 'all these years I thought guys in general liked things big (the bigger the better), but maybe I was wrong'. Danno proved me right all these years.

Doesn't really matter about the size. Multiple subs will help smooth out room modes regardless.
