Hey guys! I haven't been here too much lately. I've been spending my time dialing in these two great subs. The main reason for this post is to thank Serge for his well written directions on setting up his subs.

I found his directions to be well written and easy to follow and were vital to me in setting up the Fathoms. I'm certain if he were here, he could tweak them even better than I have, but they certainly are something special after spending the time with them.

Thanks Serge!

Gordon

Good thread. One other thing left out, Serge recommended that I place my sub in the left corner of my room and turn the JLF112 perpendicular to the back wall which means the bass driver is parallel to the long wall in my room and it made a huge difference. I'm guessing the explanation is that low frequecies have a longer wavelength., in my case this particular wall is 32 feet long and opens into another room. Like realestate, location, location, location; room placement is very important. I started out trying to center my sub. between my two speakers and the sound was not very good.

Everyone should try an external x-over/bass management once, then return it, if they do not like it compared to just using a sub(s) at your speakers roll off.

Personally, I like the sub louder for movies, but for me, it kills music, if set too loud.

Like a high performance exhaust drone, that hides 1/3 of the music.
I think I have a low, not normal, threshold with subs and music. As my friends run their subs very hot compared to their room correction AVR's suggestion. I just bump it up slightly.
