These look like L100A's, like the ones I had. The fellow I sold them to in 1982 still has them (he now lives in St. Louis), and loves them. I sold them to him with the JBL stands, and in 2005 he sold the stands back to me. I made some slightly shorter arms for them and I use them with my 4313B's.

Whenever I see a nice pair of L100's on the bay, I still smile.
No, the Quadrex grilles would not have fared well with a Kitty cat.

I have seen many JBL L100 tweeters damaged like this one. Stupid people pushing fingers into the driver. Senseless is the kindest word I can think of.

Agreed! Although the 066 tweeter in my 4313B may appear to be dented, it isn't. It's just a light reflection...they are perfect. (Of course when I got them one of them was dented and I had to acquire a replacement 066).

Death penalty awaits he who dents my tweeter (or any other speaker dust cap!)

Yes, JBL did a nice job with these. They are hard to find today...I've seen genuine examples (those with the burn-in JBL logo) fetch up to $300 on eBay. Fortunately, they can be duplicated...and it's worth the effort. There is a sonic benefit too, of course, if you were previously standing your (4312A) speakers on the floor.

The stock stand (they were intended for the L100) should work fine with the 4312A, as they are about the same cabinet depth, I believe. I had to make slightly shorter arms for my 4313B's, because they have a shallower cabinet.

Default 4312a ...?!
Hi,

I have a pair of JBL 4312A studio monitors. I have seen, in some reviews, some complaints that the sound of these speakers are "boxy" and the boss is "boomy."

Does anybody agree with this?!

I have never had a pair of L-100. Is the 4312A absolutely better that L-100?!

I run these speakers with a Marantz 2330B receiver.

I sold mine - the orange ones - back in 1978 when everything still looked perfect.

Somebody has taken up producing the Quadrex grill inserts - search eBay.
A couple of months there were two different providers.

I got three pairs (one in each color) to use in a nostalgic restauration project - they look great!
