Default Video storage for schmucks

I am mentally challenged when it comes to home theater. My storage space on the ship is really limited, and I would like to transfer my DVD's to a video storage device with an HDMI output. Can anyone reccomend something?

Thanks!

I'd also be interested in the community's comments.

I've been toying w/ a Popcorn Hour c300 lately but am not completely satisfied with its playback.

Ship, as in Navy, Maritime, Cruise? I see radar, but what's it attached to? We can take this off line, but this knowledge makes your posts have a certain contextual meaning I had not understood before.

Fascinating.

Rip them with DVDFab to a 3TB USB 3.0 HDD (larger or smaller depending on your library), and buy a WD Live box.

Unless I'm mistaken, the problem w/ WD Live is it doesnt support Dolby True HD. It also won't play ISO files. Your choice will depend on how much compression (audio & video) you're willing to put up with. Whether the loss in data is noticeable is another debate.

I have wondered myself. Is it "ship" as in "mega-yacht?"

That's a long list of equipment you have.

All I can say about video is that I am televisionally impaired.
