Default Denon DVD-A1UDCI Universal Player

Ivan, now that you're a Denon dealer and the DVD-A1UDCI is shipping, I was wondering if you or anyone else has had a chance to play with this player yet?

I like the slim drive - not the curved front thou - haven't been fond of this latest design movement with Denon. On the other hand, I'm really curious about the separate hdmi out for audio and video - very interesting.

The Denon DVD-A1UDCI has a pretty stout entry fee at $4500.

I agree Dan, it is tad stout. However, this is a universal player, is fully balanced and uses the same transport as the MCD500. Plus it has AKM AK4399 32 bit DACs. As Snoop would say, is this player da shizzle?

ValueElectronics has one as a demo. We compared its' video quality to a Pioneer BDP-09FD and we can't tell the difference between the two. Maybe the extra $2K was spent in audio.

Levi, did you attend Robert's shootout? How was it?

The DVD-A1 does have a beefed up audio section. Fully balanced design and those wonderful 32 bit DACs. Plus the addition of SACD & DVD-A too.

I attended Robert's HDTV shootout. It was great! Unfortunately, we didn't get to hear the difference in audio, only Blu-Ray video. These guys are strictly videophiles.

It is up on Youtube.

Looks like 32 bit is the new number for dac's. Is this going to be like the Mghz wars with computers.
