I sent the back the demo MSB stack and amplifier on Thursday and hooked up my old setup. Talk about going from one extreme to the other not better or worst just a different sound. I have two more weeks to go until I get my own personal stack. I'm really anxious to hear my MSB with the Diamond base since that wasn't available to demo. You need to hear the Data CD IV someday. The only reason I pulled the trigger on the Signature Transport power base without listening to it was due to talking to Vince MSB's national sales manager. When I e-mailed him on how much of an improvement that transport power base would make this was his response.
Not sure where you got any info that the Diamond supply was big improvement for the transport.......? The Diamond Power Base has 5 power supplies inside. 4 of them are for the DAC (3 analog, 1 digital). The 4 DAC supplies approach the limit of what can be done to make the DAC think it is running on huge dead-quiet batteries. There really isn’t room in the chassis to do something exceptional for the transport (which is the 5th supply). The internal transport supply in the Diamond base is still slightly better than the $600 line cord supply but does not begin to approach the Signature Transport Power Base which is a dedicated all out effort for the transport. This is another case of a very oversized (and electrically very quiet), power supply making a huge difference in the sound. From a design standpoint it doesn’t matter if it is a preamp, power amp, or digital equipment, big supplies sound better. This is not a case of current starving at all. The transport draws very little power. The Sig Transport Power supply is approximately 8 times bigger than it needs to be. I was on the team that decided to make it a product because the oversize numbers were questionable (rightfully so). When I heard it with the Diamond transport cable I was dumb struck. Here is a link to a review. the reviewer had the Data CD for 4 months and we purposely agreed to send the Signature Power Base at the end so he could really see if it made a difference. MSB Technology’s Data CD IV Transport
Here is a comment from Robin Wyatt, one of our small dealers. He had very low interest in the Sig Trans PB but said “send it” with little enthusiasm.
I just put the new power base for the Data Drive in!
I was not expecting the sound improvement I heard on the first friggin note- holy shit! More detail more transient edge better harmonics. Just a
more natural and organic sound!
Well done MSB!
Vince next time don't ask just send it and bill me :-)
I was reading this article this article yesterday and the little bird in my head said I have to here the DCS Scarlatti before I leave this earth someday it must be out of this world.
CES & THE Show 2012 • A Buffet of Music
by Paul Bolin | February 6, 2012
As promised above, there is more to say about MSB Technologies, which had a remarkable show. Their cutting-edge digital components were in numerous rooms, including the Atma-Sphere/Classic Audio Reproductions room, where their performance was so notable that it made the MSB exhibit at the Venetian a must-hear for me.
There MSB presented an all-MSB system, save for the cabling and YG Acoustics’ Kipod Signature II speakers ($49,000/pair), consisting of their top-of-the-line Signature Data CD transport ($7995), Diamond DAC IV with volume control ($29,489) with the Galaxy Femtosecond clock ($9995) and S200 200Wpc stereo amplifier ($14,995). All of the MSB DACs are capable of upsampling to a depth of 32 bits at a maximum of 384kHz. According to MSB, the Galaxy clock reduces jitter to a brain-boggling 77 millionths of one billionth of a second. All I can say is that Harry Connick Jr.’s "A Nightingale Sang in Barclay Square" was absolutely transfixing through this system -- and perhaps the best digital reproduction of music I have heard. It was clearly on the same level as the previous champ, the benchmark four-box dCS Paganini stack.

Okay, I have looked at MSB's website and I must say it is a bit confusing for the uninitiated. Experts, help me here.
Am I correct in the following assumptions.
1) Their very good Signature DAC costs $13,995 but I will need also need a power base for $4,995 or $5,995.
2) I can get their Diamond t DAC for $21,995 which I think comes with a Power Base but you can upgrade to the Diamond for $5,995.
3) The clock runs $9,950.
4) If I want to have a CD transport it will run either $3,995 or $7,995. I think it will connect to the DAC Power Base so no additional cost.
Since they do not have variable outputs, I would need to run this into a pre-amp which I currently do not have.
So, is this correct.
Platinum w/Power Base and no clock $19,990 w/ clock $29,940
Platinum w/ power base, clock and CD player $33,935 or $37,995
Diamond w/Diamond power base, clock and transport $41,935 or 45,935
