Default Burmester 038

Does anyone have experience with the 038 power conditioner? Aside from the # of plugs and power rating, what are the difference?

Some foreign reviews are saying it uses better internal parts than the 948 that came out 9 years before it.

I believe you stated the main differences in your post. I doubt that a current production model 038 from the rondo line uses better parts then a current production model 948 from the reference line. A new 038 is likely to have more up to date internal parts than a 948 from 1996. Think the key difference is that the 500W 948 is less restrictive with large power amps than the 300W 038.

I figured as much. The "new" 948 should have updated parts as of now.

I heard it in a Rondo Line set-up and in a Classic Line set-up.
For these systems, it had enough power.
I bought a 948 because I wanted to plug in more gear, and it gave me the possibility for future upgrades.

According to Burmester, you don't have to plug the gear into a 948/038 to benefit from DC correction. Everything on the same circuit will benefit.

I think this is right for big power amps, but sources and pre-amps (and even TV's) are better plugged in directly).

As Tommy specified the DC correction is applied to anything plugged into the same circuit. The 948 corrects also HF which is beneficial only for front end components as you mentioned and these need to be plugged directly into the 038/948 to take benefit of the filters.

The 948 has 4 filtered and 4 un-filtered plugs. The 038 has 4 filtered and 2 un-filtered plugs.

If you want DC correction only, you don't necessarily have to plug the component into the unit. But if you want DC correction AND filtering, you need to plug the component into those dedicated plugs.
