Lightbulb Rhondo Line

The Burmester Rhondo Line has been discontinued, I guess they decided they didn't need entry level gear after all.

Has it really? I think it is only being redesigned.

Yes, I think so too...At the last Munich Hi-End Burmester announced the new entries of Rondo Line, as well as, 101 and 102.

A full Burmester Rondo' Line system is exquisite sound at moderate price!!

Moreover, was announced also a new Burmester product line named "pure".

I had the CDP & INT-AMP home for an audition. I found them very pleasant but under-achievers. Way too costly for the level of performance provided.

My remarks were aimed at the Rhondo Line only, the belt drive cdp is outstanding. However the Rhondo gear short of the chrome front panels is exceptionally ordinary in build quality and performance. The chassis is simply stamped steel like hundereds of less expensive mid-fi products. They are competative with gear in the $2K range.

In my experience, I listened a lot of times the Burmester Rondo' Line systems and the result in sound was always amazing. Most important think is to give them the right companions or in order to achieve the extraordinary Burmester sound you've to choice a full Rondo Line System.

Hi,

I had 051 and 052.

Those were really great and I would say much better then most of the stuff in the same price range and even above. Some of the old audiophiles even prefered 051 over their higher range.

Best. M.

Assuming the same budget: Would you prefer building a system out of components from the lower lines of Burmester or from McIntosh? Why?

In 2010 I spent a whole afternoon comparing the Rondo Line, the Classic Line, and some McIntosh electronics. This with various speakers.
I listened to the 051, the 082, the 035-036, MA7000, with their respective CD-players and with Wadia (581 if I recall well).
The 082 and 035-036 were the best, closely followed by the MA7000, which was a little better than the 051.
Between the integrated 082 and the 035-036 combination I was not able to hear a difference.
The 051 really did a great job even with quite big speakers. The MA7000 was sublime with the Wadia player.
I went for the 082. It retails for 8000€ here, which is the same price as the McIntosh, which it bettered by a margin.
I guess in the US, where the MA7000 is half the price of the 082, and even cheaper than the 051, the best buy could be a different one.
