I owned these monitors from '05 to '08. The cherry veneer finish were beautiful. They were quite good with imaging and had great bass for the size.







PS. The stands were from 600 series, not the matching 800 series.

Very nice. I too owned the 805s a few years ago in a stereo only set-up. Currently have a CM series system

A question. I notice you now have SF Guarneri Memento's. How would you compare the two?

Hmm.. where to being.

GM is much more musical. Before upgrading to the GM, I probably listened to 1 or 2 hours of music per week. Now I listen to >1 hour of music per day. I stop only because I need to get other work done

String, vocal, and small Jazz ensemble are several of GM's specialty. They sound so fluid and relaxing with these loudspeakers.

GM sounds bigger. It's hard to imaging they are bookshelf speakers. Their bass is much deeper and tighter.

GM is also more transparent compared to the 805S. I hear many things I have not heard before. It is a treat to be able to re-explore my entire music collection.

I'm sure I'm forgetting other attributes. Overall, GM is a definite upgrade. They cost almost 5x the price of 805S, so they better be good lol.

Oh, did I mention GM is gorgeous? The red violin glossy coating was painstakingly applied, dried, and sanded multiple times over several weeks. They were dried under natural condition outdoor. So when it rained, they had to postpone the schedule. My dealer said red violin finish incorporated some ox blood in it, I'm not sure if he's joking or not haha.

I`ve always liked the B&W loudspeakers. They work great with McIntosh gear. I owned the 802`s, 803`s and the CM series. All were wonderful speakers in their own right.

Yes, B&W is one of the better looking speakers. High WAF compared to many other speakers. I almost upgraded to the 802D if it weren't for the Guarneri Memento.

Just the folks I have been looking for!
Question: I have a pair of the 805s I am running through a Dennon 2808CI on an assigned channel, for 2 channel music only (the rest is 5/1 HT with Warfdales) I would like (I think) to put in a YAQIN MC-10L tube amp and use the Dennon as the pre-pro. Would this amp have the ability do drive the 805s in a 16x22 room. I will use the Dennon to run the bass management for the powered subs with a roll off around 83hz.

Tube goes really well with B&W. Since the 805s don't have huge drivers, you should be fine with a tube setup (what is the wattage like on the YAQIN?) if you don't listen too loud.
