I like them, but part of me can't understand why the stands are so expensive. Considering that these are supposed to sit between the 805 diamonds and the CM series bookshelves, I don't get it. After you've bought a pair of new PM1s and the stands, you're approaching the price of a pair of gently used 805 diamonds. Might as well go all the way.

I think the PM 1s are a better value than the 805ds .5000 plus 400 for stands. Before they put the diamond tweeter in them and they were the 805s they were 2800 pair plus another 400 for stands. That's a big increase just for a diamond tweeter.

Dausby, I also used to have Dynaudio Contours (the older 3.0's) as well as a McIntosh 6900 amp. I loved the midrange and punch in the bass. The speakers were silky smooth. I will say that I felt they were lacking in the tweeter dept. I was never impressed with them listening to classical music, or rock, oddly enough. With the PM1's, especially with the JL Sub, they rock just fine. I really like the tweeter though, it just blew me away.

Also, I am also now playing music from a computer. Mine is networked through a router, via catv cable, to the PS Audio PErfectwave DAC II Bridge. It is a bit temperamental at time, but I think a lot of that is the nature of a network. I sell networked medical equipment and hospitals have whole teams of people to manage their systems. They still have issues!

I have tried to post some pictures, but apparently I am lacking intelligence to figure it out. I can not find the magical tab (not in the quick reply screen) that allows attachments on the posts.

You bring up a good point. I looked at the 805 on the used market as well. The prices the 805's were going for used were almost to the price I could get them for new. It wasn't enough of a discount.

I payed significantly less than list price when I bundled the PM1 in with other equipment. New bundled PM1 vs. used 805 was about a $2000 difference. That's without stands for the 805 and with stands for the Pm1. And that $2,000 difference in price payed for a JL audio sub

The stands are incredible, by the way. The dark wood matches the speakers and is stunning....albeit at a big cost

Our local hi-fi shop in Nashville had a pair hooked up to some McIntosh gear and they sounded bigger than they are. They're clean and smooth, like most B&W speakers, but there wasn't something slightly different about their sound that puts them a step away from the new 805s. I couldn't put my finger on it, and it's not a bad thing, either.

I definitely recommend an audition.

I seriously have no idea how to post a picture. I have tried it in three different browsers with no luck. Maybe I can't post without being a subscriber?

I think they have a better bottom end.And that new tweeter is much better for it not to be diamond.
